Whilst not thought of as a common pest problem, the issue of bird control is actually more common than most people would think. The most common problem when it comes to bird control is the issue of birds becoming lodged and in some cases even nesting in chimneys, much to the annoyance of home owners.
Chimneys provide ideal shelter for birds, particularly during breeding seasons and once they are in, the issue of bird control becomes quite challenging. In some cases it has been known that birds that end up nesting in chimneys are a protected species, meaning that removing them from a chimney becomes a delicate procedure in order to prevent any harm coming to protected birds.
In reality, the only practical measure that can be taken when enforcing bird control in this situation is to call in the experts. Whilst it may incur some expense to seek this service, ultimately this cost will certainly prove to be of better value for money. The alternative could leave you having to face the possibility of a fine for harming a protected species whilst attempting to deal with the problem of your own accord.
In terms of a preventative measure, should you have a chimney that is not in use, sealing off your chimney will stifle any issues surrounding bird control in the first place. There are plenty of chimney sealants on offer and a vast array of services willing to fit such devices to your chimney.
Another common problem within the home when it comes to bird control is the issue of the loft space. Birds have been commonly known to make a household loft space their own in a bid to find shelter from the elements. The household loft space provides an ideal breeding ground and if left undiscovered, the issue of bird control can become a major problem.
In order to prevent this problem occurring, it would be an idea to ensure that your loft space is sealed off. Checking your loft space regularly for holes and other crevices should be a priority and should not be left as an activity carried out once a year when retrieving the Christmas decorations. The issue of bird control within household loft spaces is more common within older buildings, so be sure to check on a regular basis, the condition of your loft space should you live in an old building.
Another practicality when it comes to bird control is to ensure that no other pest problem exists within your home. Birds can be attracted by the presence of insects such as ants, so be mindful of other pest sources that could explain any problems that are linked with an influx of birds to the vicinity of your home.
When it comes to bird control, the ideal solution when it comes to dealing with the problem usually results in calling in the professionals. Unlike other pest problems, birds are often unpredictable and not what most people would expect to be a problem within the home.
Bird control within the home should ideally be handled by an expert, should a problem arise.
