Facial skin care home-style can be more fun than an expensive salon visit

When it comes to facial skin care, why not bring the beauty salon experience home?

It’s all too easy to envy stars and supermodels with their luxury appointments for impossibly expensive and exotic-sounding beauty treatments, massages and facial skin care treatments, but why not recreate these spa essentials at home for a fraction of the cost?

Of course its nice to visit a salon. You get waited on hand and foot, you can talk about your day, your week or your year, and it’s more than likely that you’ll be pampered with complementary coffees and teas whilst listening to relaxing music in a warm, freshly laundered dressing gown. Your own home spa could be just as enticing.

Next time you think about heading to a spa, why not think about an alternative? Instead of paying someone else to help you relax, you can take charge of your own indulgent spa experience in the comfort of your own home, where you are free to luxuriate in your favourite products to your hearts content.

Firstly, its important to make sure youve got everything you need. Freshly-laundered towels are a must, as is a fluffy dressing gown. If you have slippers, why not put them on and take an ipod into the bathroom to play your favourite party mix? A small table or bath rack will also help you to lay out your home beauty salon.

Next it’s important to make sure that you have all your facial skin care essentials. Its a good idea to make sure you have a cleanser and toner you love, a moisturising or pore refining face mask, depending on your skin type, as well as some cotton wool eye pads and your favourite moisturiser or night cream.

Once you have all your essentials, run a bath and fill it with your favourite bubbles. Then cleanse your face and dry it. Next, apply your chosen face mask according to the instructions on the packet. Now its time to relax in the bath while your face mask gets to work. And if you want to add a glass of wine or champagne, so much the better.

Once you’ve finished relaxing in the bath, wrap yourself in a nice warm towel and use the cotton wool eye pads soaked in warm water to remove the face mask. Now apply a thick layer of your normal moisturiser or night cream. You’ll feel ten years younger and will wake up with a glowing complexion.

If you want to sleep like a baby, apply an aromatherapy body lotion in lavender or ylang ylang, and rub a moisturising lotion into your hands and feet. If you have sleep socks, this will ensure a deep treatment that will keep your skin baby soft. Lastly, use a calming room spray to create a sanctuary where you can fall peacefully asleep.

When it comes to facial skin care, a home salon can be just as much fun as an expensive day spa. What’s more, you can spend the money on products you’ll be able to use over and over again, and extend your beauty routine to ensure that both face and body are pampered together.

With a few carefully chosen facial skin care products, you can turn your home into a sanctuary that’s just as fun as a more expensive salon.
