Combi boilers are so called because they combine heating water and central heating systems within a single unit. They are very efficient unlike more conventional boilers because they heat water on demand without the need for a water tank, therefore saving money on energy bills whilst also reducing emissions.
Today combi-boilers are available in compact units and this means that they can be fitted into most homes even if space is of the minimum. Typically fitted in the kitchen or bathroom, the compact design means they can be installed in almost any area of the home.
This effective, efficient means of heating your home and your water supply is a real plus that provides you with a constant heat and constant hot water. The beauty is that you only heat the water that you require and many boilers are controlled to ensure that water arrives at your taps at a constant temperature. This eliminates the water tank problem of water running cold when the tank is emptied of its hot water. Remember the days waiting for the water to heat up for a bath? No more with a combi-boiler.
If you are thinking of a combination boiler a further consideration to bear in mind is a condensing combi-boiler. These units are even more efficient than the traditional combi-boiler and so save even more money through efficiency and reduce even further the amount of emissions.
There are many combi-boiler makes and models but the following list provides a brief outline of the most popular.
Worcester Bosch Combi-boilers
A very efficient range of boilers with most A rated at 90% efficiency. Models are available as gas or oil fired units providing on demand central heating and hot water. Manufactured using high-quality components they are reliable, efficient in terms of energy and emissions and easy to operate, resulting in Worcester-Bosch being a best seller.
Baxi Combi-boilers
Baxi also offer consumers a range of energy efficient combi-boilers and are also A rated at 90% efficient. Baxi pride themselves on efficiency, easy installation and user-friendliness of the units. With technology that minimises emissions Baxi are a popular choice and have been reported as Which Magazine’s ‘best’ combi-boiler for its Duo-Tec range.
Ideal Combi-boilers
Ideal manufacturer a large range of boilers using reliable design equipment and boilers that caters for all types of home whether large or small. Some combi’s are A rated but you will need to check the efficiency as some models have B ratings. Ideal boilers have easy to use control systems and varied output ranges to meet the requirements of most households.
Vaillant Combi-boilers
Vaillant manufacture the eco-Tec range of combi-boilers and they have seen a rise in popularity recently with all units in the range being A rated at 90% efficiency. Vaillant boilers are compact, easy to install and more importantly easy to maintain. They provide consumers with energy bill savings, reduced emissions and user friendliness.
If your central heating system and hot water system need replacing, or if you are updating an outdated system, a combi-boiler is an excellent option in terms of energy bill savings – the savings to you over time will help to recoup some of the outlay for the installation of a new boiler.
