The worldwide online wine market

Commercial Feature

There has been a rise in online shopping throughout every market and this boom has certainly hit the wine industry too. Now you not only have access to much more wine than ever before but you can also find great deals, as you can buy wine directly from the winemakers themselves.

In essence, you are skipping those middle men who would be adding their own mark up on everything you buy, not to mention the fact that you can browse and buy at your leisure in the comfort of your own home. No one can deny that the internet has made things great for the shopper.

Before the boom of the online wine industry, the everyday wine lover was hard pressed to find a good variety of wines from abroad on our own shores. Of course, we have had access to what has been imported from places like France, but we were limited to buying what was imported and only had the opportunity to experience other new wines whilst on our yearly foreign holidays. However, things have changed for the better and we now have access to the broadest range of wines online.

There are thousands of wines now available from all over the world; if there are winemakers out there you can bet they are online sharing their produce. The best thing about all the variety that can be found is that you may stumble across a wine that is fairly unheard of, you would probably be able to get it at a reasonable price and it could be the best wine you have ever tasted. Also if it was a new producer then you could be happy in the knowledge that you were one of the first to taste it.

Buying alcohol abroad with the intention of getting a good bargain is not something new to anyone. Winemakers are popping up in all corners of the globe and doing their bit to fill the online market, and you can bet that there are some great deals to be made. A wine producer who is selling from a poorer economy could mean the difference between getting a bargain and spending over the odds.

When buying wine from a global market from a mix of established producers and beginners, the pricing of a bottle of wine is not always a good indicator of its quality. But with the prices of a lot of wines being so reasonable online, there is no reason not to experiment a little.

It is true that without the internet, there would be a vast amount of great and exclusive wines coming and going, being enjoyed by the few who have been informed of their existence, but without them ever coming to your attention.

Just think of all the wines that have been made in far off places but which were only sold to and drunk by the local people. It is such a shame to be missing out on such exclusive wines that could be bought for excellent prices.

The world of the online wine market means that if I wanted to taste a new or exclusive variety of wine from Australia and I had a particular grape in mind, then within a few clicks I could have bought an Australian Sauvignon Blanc without having got up from my seat.

Things have been made so easy for the everyday wine lover to find what they want, plus if you were to become a member of an online wine group you would get to hear about all sorts of exclusive wines from around the world that you may not have otherwise known about.

If after trying out a few wines from Australia you decided that you would like to try something else, then keeping in mind your favourite type of grape you could use online wine tasting guides to search through a list of all the countries that produce and sell Sauvignon Blanc and enjoy comparing it with their Australian counterpart. And the same principle applies to any sort of grape that may be your preferred choice.

The great thing about mail order wines is the sheer variety of all types of grapes from a variety of countries that grow and press them. And while you may not have enjoyed your first Sauvignon Blanc from France for instance, you may find that you love a Sauvignon Blanc from Australia, and this can be the case with any type of wine as the country of origin has a large impact on the taste.

It can be difficult to guess when a great wine from any other country will hit the online market. However, the best way to be there when it happens is to make sure you are signed up with an online wine tasting club to enjoy the benefits of shared knowledge.
Since there are a wide variety of countries that members of an online wine group may come from, there is the chance that you could hear of an up and coming tasty wine simply by being in the same wine group. Joining an online wine group is a great idea, as you will learn more about new and tasty wines from other members.

With all that delightful choice out there it is no wonder that wine lovers the world over are flocking to find the best wines at the best deals from the worldwide wine market that is now flourishing online. If you are a wine lover, a connoisseur, or even a wine beginner then you would be making quite a mistake if you were to exclude the online market.

The best advice is to join an online wine tasting group and begin to learn from others about the wines of our world and start enjoying the great variety that is out there waiting to discovered. There really is a wealth of knowledge to be shared and bargains to be found, and you can find them without ever leaving your sitting room.
