Virus fear at rescue centre
Saturday 26th June 2010, 10:31AM BST.
A crisis-hit Black Country animal rescue centre has closed temporarily after fears a dog in its care died from a deadly virus.
Rosedene Animal Rescue Centre in Walsall is not taking in any new dogs and around 30 being kept there are unable to leave until vets have finished an inspection.
It follows claims a labrador died from the contagious parvo virus contracted after being taken to the centre by Dudley Council. Both Sandwell and Dudley councils have stopped taking stray dogs to the centre in Rushall until an inspection is complete.
It comes just weeks after Rosedene reopened after the RSCPA shut it down at the start of the year claiming standards were not acceptable.
