Frances Parsons, the mother-in-law of Black Country comic Alan “Aynuk” Smith has died just a month after celebrating her 100th birthday.

West Bromwich-born Mrs Parsons, who lived at the Tiled House care home in Pensnett, Dudley, leaves three children, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs Parsons marked her milestone birthday on November 22 with her family, including daughter Mollie, aged 72, who is married to Aynuk, son Graham, aged 66 and 63-year-old daughter Heather.

She also received a special visit from Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Pat Martin, on the day as she blew out her candles in front of 50 guests.

Mrs Parsons had lived in the Black Country since her birth in 1909.

Her parents Mary Ellen and Steven Dixon lived in Bernard Street, West Bromwich.

After leaving school, Mrs Parsons worked at Joseph Lucas & Sons, a motor car component manufacturer based in Birmingham.

Soon afterwards she moved to work at the National Pensions Office in Dudley and met her first husband Horace Kynnersley He was a photographer and worked for a short time for the Express & Star. He died in 1966 from tuberculosis.

Mrs Parsons met her second husband widower Ernest Parsons who was a telephone engineer.

The couple married at St John’s Church in Kates Hill in 1969 – where Mollie and Alan were also wed in 1959.

Mrs Parsons died on December 22. A funeral will be held on January 6 at Holy Trinity Church, Wordsley, followed by interment at Dudley Cemetery.
