Berra fitness lift for Wolves

Wolves were today boost-ed by the news Christophe Berra could be fit for the weekend after his horror fall against Manchester City.
Berra staggered off with concussion during Monday’s 3-0 defeat after landing awkwardly on the side of his head following an aerial challenge with Craig Bellamy.
But the Scotland international only suffered a stiff neck and wrist and expects to return to training on Friday before Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie at Tranmere.
“I felt a lot better when I woke up yesterday morn-ing,” said Berra. “My neck was a bit stiff and I’ve got a sore wrist although thankfully no major damage was done.
“I’ll have a couple of days’ rest and if all goes well, be back in training on Friday.”
Berra admits it looked far worse after seeing replays of the clash.
“I remember going up for the header, but it left me very dazed and I can’t remember much about the lads coming in at half time,” he said. “But after a few minutes everything started to become clearer. ”
Meanwhile midfielder Da-ve Edwards hopes to be fit by the end of January. The Wales international’s ankle gave way in the 1-0 win at Tottenham on December 12.
“I had the surgery a couple of weeks ago and if all goes according to plan, it could be the end of Jan-uary,” said Edwards.
l Sheffield United were today linked with a loan move for Wolves’ utility man Greg Halford, who spent last season with the Blades.
