Arsonists blamed for blaze

Firefighters are expected to spend the rest of today tackling a suspicious blaze at a coal yard in Wolverhampton.
Around 500 tons of charcoal was up in flames at G N Grosvenor in Purbrook Road, Monmore Green this morning.

Several engines were called out and 25 firefighters tackled the flames from 5.10am this morning.
Crew commander Paul Bainbridge said: “We got the call to say smoke was issuing from the premises.
“We found a metal shed containing the charcoal which was on fire.
“It is charcoal that is used for barbecues.”
He confirmed there were 25 firefighters at the scene tackling the flames.
Bosses at G N Grosvenor refused to comment.
West Midlands Police have confirmed the blaze is being treated as arson and an inquiry has been launched.
