New manager turns on the charm
Tuesday 29th December 2009, 1:59AM GMT.
Express&Star Autograph Kid Louis Harper was over the moon after signing up the latest Premier League superstar last night.
Italian Roberto Mancini added his name to the impressive list of football heroes collected this season by the soccer mad 11-year- old.
The new Manchester City manager was as stylish with the pen after the match as his players had been with the ball during their 3-0 drubbing of Wolves at Molineux.
Louis from Fancourt Avenue, Penn said: “Mancini was the signature I wanted and he was great. He made a point of signing for everybody who asked him.
“He was very nice and a lot more approachable than I had expected him to be.
“He definitely gets the thumbs up from me even though his team beat Wolves so
“I concentrated on Mancini and did not get as many players as I would have liked but some drove off in cars and did not come back to the team coach after the game.”
His mum Wendy also sang the praises of the former Inter Milan boss who recently replaced Mark Hughes in the Manchester City hot seat.
“Wow. Roberto was a bit of alright,” she reported. “He was as lovely as he looks on television and a real charmer.”
Others from the visiting team to sign for Louis were former Villa favourite Gareth Barry, Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong, rising England star Micah Richards and Vladimir Weiss.
St Peter’s Collegiate School pupil Louis, who also got the signature of Wolves favourite Matt Jarvis last night, is collecting as many Premier League soccer names as possible.
His autograph book will be auctioned off at the end of the season in aid of charity.
