16.54: Final whistle for Blues. Their 1-0 win extends their unbeaten run and puts them on 32 points, just five points outside the Champions League places. Pinch yourself but it’s true. It’s all over for Albion, too, who close the gap on Championship leaders Newcastle to five points. The Toon play later.

16.48: Goal! Albion make it 3-1. Zuiverloon finds the back of the net as Scunthorpe look stretched due to the two man disadvantage.

16.45: With Scunthorpe down to nine men, Albion will hope to see this one out in some comfort.

16.37: It’s saved! The score stays 2-1.

16.35: Penalty! McCann is sent off as Dorrans is awarded a second penalty. The hat-trick is on.

16.27: Goal! The keeper dives the right way but Dorrans scores for the Baggies.

16.26: Penalty! Graham Dorrans is fouled by McCann.

16.24: Simon Cox makes way for Chris Wood as Albion look to offer a different option up front.

16.20: Scunthorpe are down to 10 men with full back Wright sent off for a second bookable offence. Luke Moore then has a second goal rubbed out for offside.

16.09: Goal! Within 45 seconds of the restart, Rob Jones scores an equaliser for Scunthorpe at home to Albion.

16.08: Goal! Blues have gone ahead at Stoke through Cameron Jerome. This could be history in the making for Alex McLeish’s men.

16.05: Albion’s game has kicked off again. Meanwhile, the match at the Britannia Stadium resumes between Blues and Stoke.

15.49: Half time for Scunthorpe v West Brom and Stoke v Albion. Albion with the only goal so far.

15.30: It’s all tight for Blues away at Stoke. Still 0-0.

15.21: Goal! Albion are ahead through Graham Dorrans.

15.05: Nick Mashiter’s report from the postponed Saddlers game is here: http://www.expressandstar.com/2009/12/28/saddlers-game-is-cancelled/

15.02: Action is under way at Scunthorpe.

14.55: There is going to be some disappointed Norwich fans making their way back to what Jade Goody so memorably called East Angular.

14.50: Rumour has it that Darren Byfield has already Twittered about the frozen pitch leading to the match postponement for Walsall. If anyone can confirm that he was in his kit when he found it was off, perhaps they’d like to let us know. Sounds possible as he loves a Tweet.

14.40: Steve Madeley has called in with the Albion team news from Scunthorpe. He says: “Only one change with Cech in for the suspended Mattock. So that means it is Kiely, Olsson, Cech, Zuiverloon, Meite, Brunt, Jara, Dorrens, Thomas, Cox, Moore. Subs: Allsopp, Bednar, Wood, Reid, Teixeira, Mulunbu and Martis.”

14.35: Afternoon everyone. Let’s get the main news out the way. Walsall’s home game with Norwich is off. Our man at the Banks’s Nick Mashiter says: “The pitch is frozen around the corners so after a lot of discussion, the referee has postponed.” More news to follow.
