Baggies coach seeking an energy boost

Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has hinted at changes when his team face Scunthorpe in their second Christmas fixture this afternoon.
Di Matteo is considering rotating his squad at Glanford Park as the Baggies play their second festive game in two days. Marek Cech looks certain to play at left-back with Joe Mattock suspended after collecting his fifth booking of the season against Peterborough on Saturday.
And the likes of Youssouf Mulumbu, Filipe Teixeira and Roman Bednar could step off the bench to replace players who figured against Posh.
“I know as a player it is impossible to regain all of your energy in 48 hours so we will have to look at the squad and see who is available and make use of our squad,” said Di Matteo.
Jerome Thomas is expected to be fit despite an ongoing hamstring concern, but Di Matteo has admitted the winger is causing concern. Thomas, who was also suffering from the effects of illness, was substituted on Saturday with 20 minutes left.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Tamas today set his sights on the Premier League as he spoke for the first time about his forthcoming move to Albion.
The Romania international claimed he had passed a medical and trained during a flying visit to the training ground last week.
And he revealed how former Wolves striker Vio Ganea, a former international team-mate, had offered him advice on moving to England.
Albion hope to complete the formalities of Tamas’s loan move from Auxerre and gain international clearance for the 26-year-old in the next few days.
Tamas said: “It was good in England and I am very happy that I signed. I really like West Bromwich. Vio Ganea gave me advice and told me that if I have any problems, I can call 24 hours a day.”
