16:55: A good afternoon for our only team in the region kicking off at 3pm, as Albion go back to second place in the Championship with a 2-0 win against Peterborough.
Birmingham also got a point for their Boxing Day’s work after battling to a goalless draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea, but Walsall never got started after their trip to Bristol Rovers in League One was called off due to a frozen pitch.
Now the focus turns to Anfield as Wolves go to Liverpool in the 5:30pm kick off, while Villa face another tough trip tomorrow against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

16:42: Everton get the equaliser their pressure deserves against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and how, Marouane Fellaini buries a ball to his feet for the Toffees.
16:27: Albion are set to back to second in the Championship after a second and match-killing goal against Peterborough at the Hawthorns, Ryan Bennett handing the Baggies a 2-0 lead with his own goal.
16:21: Finally Albion have taken advantage and put themselves in a good position at the right end of the Championship, Luke Moore has got the goal that has them ahead against Peterborough at the Hawthorns.
16:08: Blackburn are going to have to find the net again if they are to beat Wigan at the DW Stadium, Hugo Rodallega has got the equaliser for the home side.
16:01: It’s all over lat Turf Moor as Burnley and Bolton play out a 1-1 draw in an early Premier League kick-off.

15:45: New Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is punching the air again at Eastlands, the home side go in at half-time 2-0 up against Stoke thanks to Carlos Tevez’s strike.
15:30: A rare goal from shot-shy Blackburn Rovers is just what they need to nudge past Wigan at the DW Stadium and the joy is clear for goalscorer Benni McCarthy – it’s his first in 14 games.
15:28: The age of new manager Roberto Mancini is up and running at Eastlands, Martin Petrov has put Manchester City ahead at home to Stoke.
15:17: Sunderland are ahead in some style against Everton at the Stadium of Light, top scorer Darren Bent on the end of a well-worked move to head in the opening goal.
15:15: Burnley are never out of it at Turf Moor and get the equaliser against Bolton, David Nugent with the finish to make it 1-1 nine minutes into the second-half.
15:02: No better incentive for second-placed Albion to beat Peterborough today after the other promotion challengers in the Championship – leaders Newcastle, Nottingham Forest in third and fourth-placed Cardiff – all failed to win.
15:01: There is already a half gone at Turf Moor and Burnley look in danger of losing only their second home game of the season, with Bolton ahead through Matthew Taylor’s strike before the interval.
15:00: Kick-off around the grounds across the country.
14:50: Our teams in the region are spread across the schedule this Christmas weekend, with Wolves in action late today at Anfield as they bid to add to Liverp0ol’s woes in the 5:30pm Premier League kick-off.
Albion are the only team undertaking the traditional Saturday 3pm kick-off, as struggling Peterborough are the visitors in the Championship.
Villa are the other top-flight club facing a thankless trip in this round to fixtures, as the claret and blues face a stern test of their ‘top four’ creditionals against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow night.
Walsall won’t be in action as planned this afternoon, as their trip to Bristol Rovers has been postponed because of a frozen pitch at the Memorial Ground.
Birmingham have already set the ball rolling and stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games, after taking a point from Premier League leaders Chelsea at St Andrew’s in the early kick-off.
14:48: In the other early kick-offs, West Ham have put the pressure on Wolves by drawing to within a point of their relegation rivals with a 2-0 win against Portsmouth at Upton Park, Radoslav Kovac’s header and Alessandro Diamanti’s penalty enough to see off the bottom side.
In the other game, it was another goalless draw between Fulham and Tottenham at Craven Cottage, although Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes kept the home side out with a string of saves.
14:45: It’s already full-time at St Andrew’s and the spoils have been shared in a goalless draw between Birmingham and Chelsea, with the league leaders – in the first game in 34 they have failed to find the net – down to 10 men after Florent Malouda received a second yellow card.
