Miller to beat Morrison back
Wednesday 23rd December 2009, 11:27AM GMT.
Albion striker Ishmael Miller is on course to beat fellow injury victim James Morrison in their race for fitness.
The duo are back in training after lengthy lay-offs, with both targeting returns by the end of January.
But head coach Roberto Di Matteo expects Miller to be back in action before Morrison.
The Baggies boss said: “They are progressing well. Ishmael is ahead of James but they’re on schedule.
“Ishmael is training with the team. He’s not 100 per cent back but he’s doing well. He is very keen and we will have to manage him because he’s not played for a year. We will gradually increase his workload and ease him back him. He is still powerful and quick.
“Time will tell once he plays on a full pitch, but we expect him to be back to normal when he returns.”
But Di Matteo admitted the pair were hampered in recent days by the freezing weather that has forced the squad to train on the Baggies’ indoor pitch in Halfords Lane. The artificial surface is considered too hard for players rehabilitating from injuries.
He said: “The weather has not been great,. It’s affected everyone. We had to train in the dome. From my experience training in the dome is about reducing injuries rather than pushing players to the limit.
“The likes of Miller and Morrison can’t train because of the surface.”

On the article regarding arrests and banning orders. Very satisfying to be bottom of that particular league. Another pat on the back for the great majority of our fans.
Providing he can ease his way back, I can’t wait for Ish to return. I think the change in our style from last season, getting the ball forward a bit quicker, will suit him down to the ground. James Morrison will add even more quality and competition for places to the midfield. Fantastic.
I see Tamas is getting closer to signing. Not sure about his track record off the pitch but I suppose that as it’s a loan the management can assess that as we go.
Roll on Boxing Day and an afternoon game. I’ve stopped looking forward to evening kick offs.
Where is everyone? There only seems to be me and the many faces of Laughing Wolf on here today. Loved one of the earlier articles where he posted under an assumed name, agreed with himself under another assumed name and then argued with the earlier two under his own name. Quality.

The only reason Roberto Di Matteo is playing
Luke Moore is down to the fact that he knows you
must have pace and power to be affective in this
league,Luke may not score that many goals but his
hold up play is really good, many fans seem to
think Roman Bednar should be the starting 11
but for me this player shouldnt even be at the
club due to his off the feild antics.
Its good to see the other Midland clubs doing
well and I`d say the only differance between
Albion and the rest is they all have players
who can defend,L.YOUNG,CUELLAR,DUNNE,WARNOCK,
FOLEY,CRADDOCK,BERRA,S.WARD,CARR,JOHNSON,
DANN,RIDGEWELL.
There`s not 1 ball playing defender out of all
lot and that where Westbrom are going wrong
DEFENDERS TRYING TO PLAY FOOTBALL!
