Alert as three cats die
Wednesday 23rd December 2009, 11:30AM GMT.
Three cats have died and another has been seriously injured after drinking anti-freeze from a pavement.
Wolverhampton’s St George’s Veterinary Group put down cats brought to them last night with acute poisoning and today urged people to clean up spillages to stop cats lapping up the concoction.
St George’s Toni Colbourne said: “Cats are attracted to it because it’s sweet. They will lick it off pavements and windscreens. It should be kept well out of reach with all spillages wiped up.”
She said symptoms visible within 30 minutes include stumbling, vomiting and depression.
The RSPCA said pets should go to a vets swiftly.
