Wolves shamed for most hooligans
Tuesday 22nd December 2009, 10:08AM GMT.
Wolves was today named and shamed for having more known football hooligans than any other Premiership club.
Fans were officially labelled the worst behaved in the top flight with 98 banning orders – which stop supporters attending games – dished out since 2007.
That is 10 more than Portsmouth, the second worst offending club in the Premiership.
The figures were released as part of a campaign to catch troublemakers who cause problems for other well-behaved fans.
They also showed that, with 68 supporters arrested last year, the club was the ninth worst behaved in the Championship last year.
Albert Bates, chairman of the official Wolves Supporters Club, said: “These people are a scourge on the club but I know for a fact we are doing everything we can to get rid of them.”
Neighbours Birmingham City had 73 orders placed on fans.
