Henry wants to add to Reds’ woes
Tuesday 22nd December 2009, 9:15AM GMT.
Wolves captain Karl Henry believes there is no better time to go to Liverpool than on Boxing Day.
Three wins in four games for Mick McCarthy’s side have restored confidence in the players, while Portsmouth’s 2-0 win over Rafael Benitez’s side at the weekend made it three defeats in four games for Liverpool.
Nine losses in their last 17 in all competitions suggests the Reds aren’t the force they have been in recent seasons.
Wolves’ 1-0 win at Tottenham and victories for Burnley and Fulham over champions Manchester United have given rise to the theory that any team can beat any other this season.
Liverpool are also without Javier Mascherano for the next four games after the midfielder, who has been their best player for the last month, was sent off for the second time this season.
In addition, key players Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are playing through groin injuries.
Henry firmly believes Mick McCarthy’s men can continue their promising run at Anfield, just two days before they host Manchester City.
The skipper joked: “We’ve got a couple of easy games now in Liverpool and Manchester City!
“There has been a few dodgy results flying around so why can’t we go and win these games now? Liverpool lost at Portsmouth and even Manchester United lost at Fulham.
“We’re full of confidence at the moment. There’s not a better time to be playing them.”
