Moxey rules out refunds for fans
Wednesday 16th December 2009, 12:37PM GMT.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has backed manager Mick McCarthy over his decision to select a weakened side for last night’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester United.
Moxey feels McCarthy was acting in the club’s best interests.
“We have a squad system at the club and Mick picked what he thought was the best side for that match.” he said.
“In fact if George Friend had taken the chance he had early in the game then maybe we could have held on just like we did at Tottenham.”
Moxey also said the club has no plans to refund the fans who travelled to Old Trafford, despite a chant of “Forty two quid to watch the reserves” being heard from the away supporters.
Moxey said: “We have no plans to refund the £42 that they were chanting, about although we do have an empathy with them.
“We are very disappointed that we lost the game, but we have a squad system.”
“I don’t think we are going to get any complaints from other teams.
“We have also had a large amount of injuries recently, Michael Kightly is out and we have lost Andy Keogh.
“It’s an old saying but the season is a marathon not a sprint and Mick’s job is to keep us in the Premier League.”
Moxey also refused to rule out the possibility that McCarthy would make wholesale changes to his side at other points later during the current campaign.
“He might do, he said.” “He has already done it once.”

WE DONT WANT A REFUND!… WE JUST WANT TO BE TOLD IN ADVANCE.. a simple:
“wolves plan wholesale changes for tonights game at Man Utd…” on the website and I wouldn’t have travelled.
Shocking arrogance by the club. Utter contempt towards the fans. shocking.
I bet burnley, west ham, bolton, pompey (et al) wont play their reserves against a weakened man utd team!!

Moxey u are a disgrace! Imagine if the fa decide to make an example of us and dock us points. Highly unlikely I know but not impossible. Our loyal support deserved better than just turning up already beat. I just hope for mccarthys sake that it dosent back fire on us and we lose to burnley on Sunday. That would be a disaster. Whatever you think McCarthy will have lost respect from fans and fellow managers
up the wolves
Report abuse
Well these comments just about sum Moxey up. He is out of touch with the majority of Wolves supporters. Obviously the happy clappers will totally agree with him.
I just hope MM decisions last night dont have serious repecussions on the rest of our season.
we sure know how to wind burnley up dont we.
Well that’s all well and good to say that with his 6 figure salary. Its not just £42 its the cost of the day as a whole. When including transport costs and time off work the average fan spent nearly £100 myself included.
Its an absolute joke to treat the fans like this. They are the people who pay to keep the club afloat and so they should be respected.
Without the fans the clubs will not exist and you would be out of a job Moxey.
As a personal note I will NOT be attending any more away games this season.
errr that was a big game. To not filled your best team against Man Utd is utter suicide and relegation could beckon as we could have got something from that last night.
The risk moves to Burnley and given Wolves totally incosistent form…we could lose and be stuck in the bottom three.
If the players can’t manage two games in four days why did you buy them then????
Muppet mick out now!!!!!
Moxey, you’re just as ignorant as McCarthy when it comes to understanding the fans. You should offer a refund and how you can defend 10 changes to the first team, after the excellent result on Saturday is la joke.
I had the misfortune of wasting my money last night and fully support the fans who made their feelings known. The words DISRESPECTFUL, DISGUSTING, DISGRACEFUL don’t come anywhere near summing up how supporters feel about last night.
All you are doing/have done is to make a rod for your own back. Believe me, if you don’t beat Burnley, no wait……if you don’t stay up this season, the fans will turn against you and the rest of the management in a way never witnessed before.
I was embarrassed to be a wolves fan last night and if I was any other premier league club I would complain, as it’s a complete lack of respect to every other club to hand a team three points even before a ball was kicked. it completely goes against the idea of good sportsmanship.
I would love to hear what Morgan thinks about all this, he claims to be a wolves fan and a man of the people. Well put your money where your mouth is and give us a refund. Any thoughts Steve or you just going to let Moxey put a load of spin on it?
What a surprise – exactly what was expected from ‘Bonus’ Moxey.
Get rid of them both Morgan as they are a disgrace to the club and we are the laughing stock of the Premiership.
mcCarthy may have had his reasons for changing the team but please spare us moxey pretending he undestands anything about football, the bloke knows nothing about football or what it means to live and breath a football team, we are in it for the love of wolves not the money moxey

This is a disgrace. I paid £42 for a ticket £25 on petrol, £12.80 on parking £8 on food and drink and a day off work!!!
£42 time 2500 peole is £105,000 how about you Jez forget your half million bonus this year and give that back to some of the fans that went!
I mean we are in a time of recession where the fans are suffering pay freezes, salary reduction and redundancy. They still spend money to see thier club but want to see thier best team. They can understand in the cup but not the league.
EMPATHY!!!! Dont mug me off!!! You live in your million pound house sending your kids to private school its not hit your pocket.
You will have a good xmas no doubt but Im sure someone that nearly spent £100 on the game last night thinking he see our best 11 to see that team has every right to have a refund becuase they expected better. Thats £100 on xmas they dont have in these tough time!
EMPATHY is a joke of a word. We could have lost 9-1 and we wouldnt have got money back all we are is a number!
Shocking!! it is not only about the match ticket what about the cost of traveling. Does Mox think it was free to travel up to Manchester. You have lost the plot Mox, Next time let the fans Know that you will be playing our 2nd string team.
Many of the players from last night have started many games this year. It is not as though Wolves have a set starting 11.
Once again loyal fans treated like rubbish! I can watch reserves games for nothing as I am a season ticket holder.
And what a joke the M6 motorway was last night….
Although i disgusted with the whole mentality that a footballer cant play sat/tue/sunday, we the fans are the ones to suffer. If we are going to play weakened teams please let the fans know in adavance(at least 48 hours for full refunds) so we can make an informed decision. Im sure the reaction of having empty away sections will have the required affect!!!

First, well done to the whole team for the win at Spurs, couldn´t see the game again ESPN didn´t show it but listened to the live commentary on Yahoo.
The Man U game was I thought going to be another feather of confidence going into the teams spirit, but as it turned out I was completely wrong. ESPN covers all the matches played by the top prem teams here in Brazil so here I was in front of the box wanting to see my team believe in themselves. As the players came out my mind was working overtime, where are our 1st team selections? I know we have injuries and quite a few yellow cards knocking about and I can see the logic of resting some of the squad, but to say I was dissappointed is an understatement.
M.M´s decision to rest many players has to be accepted by us the ranting masses, it was a brave decision to make, no a very brave decision and only time will tell if it was the right one. When you think about it M.M. has got some gonads to do what he did and we need a manager who has gonads of steel to keep us in the prem. Remember when all the posted comments were saying its going to be one hell of a season and if we can come 17th or higher it will be okay, we will have survived, last nights decision to field the team he did, when he had all the facts in front of him was massive and I mean MASSIVE and thats the style of manager Wolves need. The other plus for the players last night even though we went down 3-0 was it wasn´t a walk over for Man U. and full credit to those that played, a gutsy game.
Paul.

6. another mindless moram, you and so many others always come out with sack MM when we don’t get a result! were you saying that on Saturday? I bet you were singing Super Mick wernt you?! look mate you really do insult yourself coming out with such mindless drivvle! just support the team and stop complaining
Report abuse
Yes, I can see MM point of view; horses for courses so to speak. I agree the Burnley game is probably more important when you look at the big picture but…. Man Utd, Old Trafford!!!! This is what we are in the premier league for.
I can only try to understand the frustration of the traveling fans; I know I would feel pretty let down. The players also; years from now they’ll tell their grandkids that, yes they were in the Wolves team but they never actually played at Old Trafford! For many players this is the high light of their career. They too must feel a little disappointed
Man Utd have defense frailties at the moment due to injuries, I think we could have got something out of the game. Only time will tell if this gamble (capitulation) paid off. If we don’t get all 3 points from the Burnley game it’s going to be hostile atmosphere at the Molineux on Sunday. Of course, if we do win MM will be hailed as a genius and this will all be forgotten.
I went last night and its a joke. But the more worrying part is that the team included nearly all our new signings, which are supposed to be better then last years and the team that was dropped! – his signing doyle apart have not been good enough
Report abuse
Wolves now have to explain team selection tp PL !
I wonder if points will be deducted?
I never thought I would see the day where our great and proud club would be run by complete and utter cowards like Mcarthy and Moxey. Whom in effect waved the white flag before a ball was even kicked. The sooner they are both sacked and gone the better off the club will be. This is not the club I have followed for 53 years and I think a lot of fans like myself are broken hearted this morning. Unless there is a complete change in the attitude of our management we will continue to witness acceptance of mediocrity.
Top Marks for smart managing – I applaud Mick for this bold move. The decision was based on solid facts – that players’ energy and performance levels dip by up to 40% if they play games within 3 days of each other. That’s great insider knowledge and drives the decision:
Do you play Utd with a half strength side when you only had a remote chance of winning even one point, or do you reserve everything you can to ensure a very winnable Burnley home game goes your way.
On top of the physical angle, don’t forget the massive dip in confidence suffered following the slapping from Arsenal and Chelsea. Sparing our first team squad from another round means they are still riding high from a fantastic Spurs victory.
Well done Mick – you are maximizing our chances brilliantly.
On a separate subject – Hannaman experience is working well. During the Xmas transfer market I wouldn’t mind if you compromised the young and hungry approach a bit more and brought in the like of Wayne Bridge or similar :)
Looking forward to Sunday…

Totally agree with all comments above, BUT, did anyone realistically expect anything other than this??? Quite clearly MM and Moxey have no idea of how to operate in the premier league…we save our best players so that we can beat Burnley?? Yeah?? Great …considering how well we did against Portsmouth at home, West Ham at home…..roll on the weekend and lets hope for everyones sake we get the right result – Mcarthy and Moxey blushes might just be spared!

You both (MM & MOXEY) take the wonderful support that this club has for granted. Both of you should appologise to the fans that paid their money to watch the “10 stiffs” last night.HOW CAN YOU GIVE UP ON A MATCH BEFORE YOU HAVE EVEN PLAYED IT?? You DISGUST me. I am ashamed to be a wolves fan today…you have dragged the name of this club through the mud. Major buckley will be turning in his grave amongst others. How dare you try to excuse this.

22. Are you on drugs? You sound like such an idiot saying we should be docked points.
Mick is the manager and can play whoever he wants in the starting lineup!

Had we made say, four or even five changes – then brought on three subs at any point, it might have gone down a little better. Well, we ‘ll see what the future holds for us. Bet Burnley will be looking to keep their home record going against Arsenal tonight i.e. field their best team.
The bloke’s an idiot…….Can’t believe he has exposed the club to such bad press, embarrassment, and potential FA action. And worse than anything, the pressure that has now been put on the ‘A Team’ for Sunday’s game is intense to say the least – hope the A Team are up to the challenge, because if we lose……By the way, don’t bother buying tickets for the cup game a Tranmere, I understand he’s going to play the ladies team!

Judging by your comments above you are either naive or arrogant & I don’t beleive you are naive!!!
How can you say other clubs wont have a problem with, the whole footballing population of the UK have come out & battered us from pillar to post all day!!!
So it seems that you & your equally thick, arrogant manager are in the minority on this one!!!!

Sorry lads, if you dont like what Mick did, then tough.
Welcome to the Premiership.

It was a bold move by Mick – one that I hope does not backfire with anything but a win this weekend. Its a good thing he gave some other players a chance last night. When they are called upon again, they will be better for it.
Mick is the manager and he will have to live with the decisions he makes, good or bad. Stick with the Wolves and stick with Mick.

I went to Spurs on Saturday and the euphoria of that day quickly evaporated to anger and embarrasment about last night. I’m not usually one to knock players or the manager, but on this occasion Mick got it WRONG, VERY WRONG. No respect for the Wolves shirt, no respect for the fans, no respect for Man Utd’s contenders for the title. From what i saw, the under-strength Man Utd team were not particularly that good, they didn’t have to be. Just makes me wonder if we had fielded a full strength side, maybe we could have knicked a point. How good would Molineux have felt about itself on Sunday as the players ran out to a heroes welcome. Sadly, that has all gone. I just feel very, very angry about this.
What a bunch of numpties you all are for asking for refunds!
It was your decision to go to Old Trafford in the first place, no-one forced you to go. Did anyone think that even with a full strength squad we’d actually get anything from the game, especially after Saturdays exploits? If your deluded enough to think that then you deserve to have wasted all that money.
The United reserves knocked us out of the cup so why would a stronger side not beat us in the league? Especially when they have a point to prove after losing to Villa!
The pressure now is on the first team to get a result on Sunday but after a weeks rest, they’ll be in a much better position to do so than they would have been if they’d have all played last night.
If we win on Sunday, Mick made the right decision last night. If we lose, then it was a mistake. Although knowing the majority of Wolves fans, its a case of Guilty until proven Innocent.

40. How can they throw the book at him, as much as I am inclined to agree with you, the rule book states that a team must field it’s best side. Question who decides what is the best team for any given match at a football club? Answer, the manager. How can any outside individual or organisation claim to know what is or isn’t the best team avaiable to any football club at any given time. Wolves fans even disagree on who should be in or out of the side every week.

Thank you wolwan79 No20 for a sensible and accurate reflexion of my feelings. Matthew and I left Buckinghamshire at 11.00 reached our overnight hotel in Wolverhampton at 1.30 this morning and back home at 12.00 so a 24 hour excercise costing approx £130. For the first time in my life and hopefully the last I was embarrassed to be there with the Wolves, and at Man. U of all places and nothing to do with those who played and tried their best.
Both Bolton and Birmingham had tough games to contend with at the weekend but played virtually their same teams again last night and gained valuable points. Are their players at better fitness levels than ours bearing in mind we are billed as a “young and hungry”side?
Last season we attended 39 of the 44 matches and the season before only missed 3 and we face a 230 mile round trip for a home game!
In all the years of following the Wolves I have never been to Old Trafford or Anfield. I signed up for the away season ticket scheme B this season at an up front cost of £440 to make sure that at last I could realize my dream to at last witness our team in action at these famous venues.
I have with heavy heart just written to the Wolves ticket office returning my Boxing day Liverpool tickets requesting a refund including my pre booked coach travel which would have followed on from the 2 hours in the car to reach the ground.
Happy Christmas to all fellow fans but mine won’t be quite the same now.

Re 40
Err, isn’t the point about football is that you don’t know who will win when you go to a game? As others have pointed out we beat Utd five years ago and 25 years ago a relegation bound Wolves side went to Anfield…..
I don’t think it maters what happens on Sunday, it was a disgraceful decision, get those complaints in to the club.
I can understand the cost of going to Utd last night and YES WITHOUT A DOUBT the club should have made it clear that major changes would happen. However the idiots who are asking for Mick to be sacked need to grow up. For god sake he managed to get a great result on Saturday and Burnley is a game that we have more of a chance of winning.
If we had played Doyle, Milijas, Ward, SEB etc and they picked up injuries I guarantee that fans would have been saying why play them in a game we had very little chance of winning.
Family of three home and away season ticket holders. £126.00 entrance fee, petrol, travel time. Total disbelief when heard team selection.

Last night’s debacle is the equivalent to me managing a business, telling my staff to have tomorrow off because today has been extremely busy, and then bringing in agency staff to cover for them. The net results would be, poor productivity, poor motivation because they no they are not as good as the staff they have replaced, loss of current or potential customers(supporters), I get the sack for making such a stupid, irresponsible decision, and I would deserve it too, as does McCarthy, who I treat with the distain that he treats me.

it just goes to prove that money has completley taken over the game, there is so much pressure to stay in the premier league because of the rewards that managers are making rash team selections like mick did last night, any player should be up for it when your playing man. utd idont care if you played the day before, as far as i,m concerned there,s no bigger stage. But lets not be to pessemistic because it rubs off and you win nothing being pessemistic..

I can just about live with Mick’s team selection but not Moxey’s predictable, disgraceful attitude.
Oh goody…he ‘empathises’ with our fans…well doesn’t everyone feel better now!
Mick could easily have had a few more regulars in his starting line up instead of sitting them on the bench…and simply brought them off if they were struggling. Exhaustion related injuries are picked up in the last 10 minutes, not the first 45. Would anyone have objected if Hill & Friend were on the bench? Mick just had to do it the Mick McCarthy way for the dramatic headlines.
So what now with Liverpool away…only 2 days before Man City at home. The sad thing is both would have been very winnable with our tremendous support…but who’s going to Anfield now?

dont say this to loud (lol) but I am genuinly sorry for the fans that paid well over 100 pound last night for travel and tickets to have to watch reserve and squad players!!

I think you are all getting a little hot under the collar here guys. Look it is an expensive game being in the Premiership, but we all want to be in it. One day I hope we can field a full strength team at Man Utd but this was not the time to do it. In the space of a few weeks we have lost Keogh, Foley, Ebanks-Blake, Doyle, Edwards, Mancienne & Zubar. Now they are getting fit again we have to make them match fit. Foley, Zubar & Mancienne all got a great fitness check last night much better than they get playing in the reserves.
Now I agree the cost of going to the games is huge this year and I took my 7 year old who is Ebanks mad as well. However, I thought there were some real positives from last night – I didn’t expect us to win, and I thought the fans were fantastic for the most part.
I agree with Sqaud rotation – I don’t agree with rotating the entire team however, but that said I still had a great night out. And yes I was entertained.
Come on you Wolves, prove Mick right on Sunday.

This, without the fuel cost of £30, car parking charge of £8 and food and drinks etc £20, which in total cost me £145, only to be insulted and embarrassed by your manager. A paltry sum to people such as yourself and your staff, who are on highly inflated wages, but to us mere mortals who supported this club before you arrived, and will still be supporting them long after you and the rest of the mercenaries have left for greater riches, this is a large sum of money which I certainly would not have paid in advance if I had known that it was going to be a reserve team fixture.Total disgrace, 3M’s are tearing this club apart, wake up and smell the coffee morgan, sack thick mick and the fat controller now before it’s to late.

Seem to remember that teams like Man U, Liverpool, etc have fielded weakened teams ahead of important games in the Champions league so it’s not exactly unique.
In the grand scheme of things it’s not that important. What matters is that we remain in the Premiership and try and build on what we have.
By the way I was at both the Spurs and Man U games.

Respect to Mick for taking a big risk. If we win against Burnley then we have 9 points from 12 and he’ll be able to point to the freshness of the players for the result. If we lose then the Utd game looks like a complete give-away.

I enjoyed watching the game (on TV) for once without any nerves. Wolves had nothing to lose and the fact that Man U were up against our second eleven, may just have given them the jitters, should they have gone behind. Remember how the nerves were shattered after playing Arsenal and Chelsea….the first team don’t have that problem this time around. Had we won, nobody would be winging. Good call Mick…roll on Sunday.

Many of the players from last night have started many games this year. It is not as though Wolves have a set starting 11.
Just sums some of you lot up, Matt Hill started 1 game, blackburn..what a shambles that was!
George friend only makes the bench for Scunthorpe, starts against the champions, how is that ever a good idea??
How many games has elokobi started at centre half this season tim?
3 left backs starting in same line up, 2 right backs, 1 of whom played in midfield the other (who don’t even get me started on) walked up and down the right wing, it’s alright though he has a good throw…..we’ve scored once from it (fulham)
Did you even go Tim?
Some of you on here have got it bang on, it’s not just £42 it’s £1.75 booking fee even though youre an away season ticket holder and tickets are sent out, £22 in taxi’s, £15 coach, that’s £80 that’s before the beer to drown our sorrows for the piffle we watched never mind the half day at work yesterday and lack of production today cos I didn’t get home til 2 this morning, due to the m6!
You just don’t give a stuff about us do you moxey!!

Oh it was also 42 quid to watch the reserves in the carling cup & nobody moaned at that one

I suppose like most Wolves fans I can see both sides of this one. I wasn’t at Old Trafford last night, but, over the years I’ve ‘wasted’ time and money on postponed and abandoned matches, not to mention thrashings, so I entirely sympathise with all the hard earned money that’s been spent. You aren’t going to get a refund, but, maybe Jez Moxey should think of a seasonal gesture to ease the pain. Free merchandise, free coach travel to Liverpool etc, two for one tickets for an F A Cup tie….something on those lines.
What really infuriates me is the sanctimonious attitude of the national press. For once they’ve noticed a club outside their precious top four (six this year !)They’ve all played weakened sides when it’s suited them (in some cases at the end of the season when it’s really hurt other clubs ). Not just in the Premiership either, what about some of the goings on in the European Championship and the Cups ? ….and don’t forget Manchester United actually pulled out of the F A Cup one season !
Maybe Mick went a bit too far by changing all ten outfield players, but, it’s his call.
Can’t help thinking this was the time to take on United if ever there was a time…..and let’s pray this isn’t a clanger of Bryan Robson proportions when he did the same with the Tesco basket cases a few seasons ago ! .
Now calm down everybody, calling each other muppets and numpties and morons isn’t the spirit of Christmas is it?

It is quite apparent that the three M’s have no GOLD and BLACK blood in their vains, they only have pounds shillings and pence in their mind. We were treated with utter contempt by the management, who don’t care about the fans, because we have already got our season tickets.
I feel sorry for the players if they can’t play football three times a week, if they can’t its because thaey are not fit enough.
I would imagine after the win at Spurs they would have been in high spirits to match their performance at united but MM just gave them a deflation pil. Why are all, teh other teams playing their best players is it because they want to stay in the premiership!!!!I fear the worst on Sunday(unfortunatly), but I will still be there because WOLVES will always be my team.So Mr MORGAN think hard and long about your management.

Once youv’e made a decision to change a winning team, and you’re playing Man Utd Away with a club who is going to definately finish in the bottom 5, why not keep changing it? THIS IS THE PREMIERSHIP GUYS! We would have had to keep playing until they won anyway!!
As it is, we only conceded 3 away to the champions, and we should be raring to go on Sunday. Who gives a toss what anyone else thinks? If you don’t like it, tough – go and support a non premiership team! Seriously – this sort of thing is what top flight football is all about! MONEY through SURVIVAL, whether its survival in the top 4, or survival in 17th, cup games or unwinnable games – forget them!

I can understand both arguments for and against the changes MM made last night. I would have been very disappointed if I had been able to go, but due to work commitments I was travelling south while the game was going on up North. I was at Spurs on Saturday, my 6th away game this season and I saw the effort put in and have every admiration for what was achieved there. In reality what is more important, to possibly lose 2-3 players to silly injuries for Sunday and lose to Man Utd or be able to field the same team that toppled Spurs, fresh and ready to go on Sunday and win? This debate will rage for years let alone days, yes it could be the catalyst for reprecussions, but only the league table will tell the story after 38 games.
Come on lads! 3 points Sunday and justify the selections made.

On Moxey – if that’s the best he can do then he should leave now, no respect for the fans and saying he has ‘empathy’ is a bad joke. He has no idea of the commitment that away support involves to working people.

Saturday was a wonderful day to be a Wolves fan.Let us not forget our main aim must be Premier survival..The decision on Tuesday was exreme but in my view technically correct. We need to win the war not every battle.I hope the club finds some way to compensate those fans who went to Old Trafford.I am a season ticket ‘homer ‘and these days only rarely do I go away, but clearly our away support this season has been superb, and I hope those loyal away fans are not distracted by a one off exceptional situation.

Im sick of people having a pop. why are we the wolves supporters so fickle. before the bolton gaem it was MICK OUT MICK OUT after the spurs game it was SUPER SUPER SUPER MICK MCARTHY, now he rests his main lot JUSTIFIABLY. all i hear from people in these boards is “when is the hoff gonna get a start” “whens foley back” “why aint he playing zubes” “when Lumo comes back were gonna be great” he did all that last night and ur still moaning.
it was pretty much certian that we would lose and man u, who ever we took. statistically. so why risk injury and fatigue? and this first team of which every one is calling for lost 4-1 to gunners, and 4-0 to chelsea, who are both equal to or lower than man u at the mo. So if anything these RESERVES of which you speak did better than our super first team.
tell me those calling for a refund would your trip be so much better seeing e-blake not score rather than the hoff not score? would u rather watch craddock let strikers run round him rather than watch zubes give away pennos?(actually not sure which is worse there) would u rather watch hennessy picking his nose rather than hannehman doing his best?
how will this make these players feel? how badly is their confidence knocked now that their fans dont even wanna give them a chance because they aint the wolves who won at white heart lane 2 days before? thats gonna be great for when we need to call on them during an injury or something. and as well as that i bet u will all be booing before a ball is even kicked on sunday, which will knock the confidence and probs make us lose which will again make u all start on mick again!
plus our “first team” will be full of guilt for wanting a rest and be shaken for the game on sunday too. i fear a loss on sunday i really do
cant you all just for once act like FANS. that what your meant to be of players management all things wolves?!

The people on here defending MM & Moxey are mad! What MM did last night was throw the game, why didn`t he say to Fergie here are your 3 points and not bother with the game. He has bought the game into disrepute and sport in general – is he going to do the same when we play the return at Molineux and when we play Arsenal and Chelsea again! Did Martin O`Neill give up before Saturday as Villa`s record was shocking at Old Trafford – NO!!!!!!!! It is disrepectful and sheer arrogance saying to football we will beat Burnley with our so called ` A – Team ` when this team did not beat Hull & Portsmouth!!! MM has made us an embarrassment! Moxey is treating the fans with contempt! The Premier League would be within their right to deduct points because we did not try to win the game. I didn`t actually go last night but I am fuming as what do the powers be say when we were winning the championship we can’t wait to play the likes of Man United – so what do we do……………………….
I didn’t agree with the team selection, although i can understand why mick did it. However, simply rolling over and letting teams dominate you is unacceptable. To stay up you need to compete whoever the opposition and if you get beat, you get beat, regroup and try again. Its disgusting the way Moxey has ruled out a refund, then blames it on George Friend, really shows how much he values the players and supporters. Hopefully this mess will be made easier with 3 points sunday, keep the faith!
Refunds were never on the agenda, for the very reason that the club take our loyalty for granted.
Radio 5 have just broadcast an interview with Moxey, in which he professes surprise at McCarthy’s actions- signs, perhaps, that he’s now trying to distance himself from his manager?
If the Premier League do take punitive action, as always, it’ll be the supporters who ultimately suffer- whether it’s a points deduction that undermines our slender survival chances; or financial, which would no doubt see the club tightening the purse strings in the transfer market.
But the damage already done to the club’s reputation and self-esteem is already palpable.

I went to Chelsea as well of most of our earlier away games and saw us raise the white flag then. I felt conned when I got home. Surman started for the first time (what is his only other start?). We started with Jarvis up front and Doyle rested (Anelka started who had played in same game). Players never tackled and it was like a Chelsea (light) training session. Only good bit was fan throwing shoe on pitch. Players only seemed interested in exchanging shirts.
Saw writing on wall and hence gave last night a miss as I knew he would play weakened team but was surprised at how weak. I completely agree in this as wrong decision on SO many levels.
How about the players. Henry, Doyle, SEB et al would have looked out this fixture at start of season as a biggy. What pro would not want to play at OT against Roony, Scholes etc. MM robs them of the CHANCE to have a go at them. Doyle would have been against that hardened centre-half Carrick. Unfortunately they are not good enough to be on the same pitch as Man U. They can play against Burnley though. I s this going to be our “Phil Brown’ moment without the cushion of a fantastic early start.
Also this bit about effort and hard games. Do we not expect 100% effort in ALL games. There is always a risk of injury in every game(they have to cross the road as well).
This was final straw (glad someone mentioned giving South Bank to Boggies) and the fans who travelled should have refund.
We COULD have got something last night-I hear Pompey just equalised at the Bridge!!!!!

I watched Wolves from 1968 until the end of Glenn Hoddles reign, I was one of the 1800 in the lowest ever crowd versus Bournmouth in freight Rover Trophy. A season ticket both pre and post Bhatti’s. My reason for not going anymore – the total lack of respect for the fan since Jez Moxey came to Wolves. I have never been back and will not go to molineux again until he is gone. He now has a man as arrogant as him in charge of the team.
Injuries to Kightly – 2 weeks ago he “wasn’t ready” for the premiership.
Wolves fans wake up and smell the coffee, many of you are swallowing the spin hook, line and sinker and you will continue to be fleeced.
I watched every home game in the season wolves dropped from the old 3rd to the 4th division Who remembers Peter Zelem and Ricky Herbert tried their hearts out but weren’t good enough. This is not the standard of morality we expect at the Wolves, and deceiving our own people is not acceptable!
A refund and compensation is the least that our supporters should receive!

Why are so many people calling the team we played a weakened team. On results and performance they can’t be weaker than the team that played Birmingham/Arsenal/Chelsea.
So tell me, who would you have played instead of Mancienne (look at the posts in the summer when he was going to be THE difference for us). what about Foley (player of last season wasnt he), The Hoff (these boards have been clamouring for him to have a game). I agree Halford is an expensive throw in taker and mot much more but he’s been a regular this season. Hill was replaced by regular jarvis on 60, elokobi has played regularly, so has Castillo. That leaves Friend and Surman I reckon.
Thats pretty much a first team then. If we’d lost to Spurs and made 10 changes there wouldnt be all this fuss.
Sorry guys – logic says no refund. But I know why you’re angry but it would be the wrong decision.

Sometimes words are simply inadequate. The nonsense written on here is staggering. Ask yourselves, ‘Which top side had we just beaten when you bought your Man Utd tickets? And with what side? And what result you realistically expected at the time you bought your ticket? And ask yourselves whether, at the start of the season, you expected to see a back four of Elokobi, Mancienne, Zubar and Foley? Ask yourselves whether just a week or two ago you’d been calling for the Hoff to start? True, back-to-back wins and especially the win against Spurs gave us a renewed sense of optimism and belief that might (but might not) have been built upon, but MM knows the players and what they are and are not capable of better than we do. And it’s his job on the line not ours. So stop jumping on a band wagon and admit it – you wanted to go to Man Utd/Old Trafford because it was Man Utd/Old Trafford and, when you bought your ticket, you probably had no thought that we might go there and get something from the game. And for those who think Moxey should refund everything you spent your money on that day (wouldn’t you have had to eat if you’d stayed at home?), careful what you ask for – you might just get the offer of a pie and a pint.

Well it certainly makes Sunday interesting. I like Owen Coyle and they have done well so far but 3 points will put us 19 points with them and as much as Burnley are a good club I fully expect them to go down. Bolton and Hull now have consecutive away games too. As all the pundits on sky sports etc this league just seems to get more exciting there is 9 clubs in a relegation battle and 7 clubs competing for top 4 places it is awesome! Watching Man City last night, alot of their players went very quiet in the cold and I’d love to beat them in a few weeks!

Every paying fan of any team has the right to expect that the club he supports does its very best to win every single match. If as MM & JM suggest each game will be analysed and then that particular game focused on with either a strong or weak team then that policy will lead to certain relegation.

I went to Old Trafford on Tuesday and thought the lads who played did pretty well until the penalty. My gripe isnt about team selection because that is what we pay the manager for. I respect his decision as it was obviously in the best interests of the club and trying to give us a better chance on Sunday. My problem is that, having gone there, paid for parking and food/drink, some complete muppet decides to close two lanes of the M6 at every one of the four sets of roadworks on the way back.
