Didcot 1 Halesowen 2

Monday 14th December 2009, 5:01AM GMT.

thegroveStefan Moore’s late winner extended Halesowen’s long unbeaten run and confirmed their overall dominance over hard-working Didcot.

After their late arrival, due to heavy M40 traffic, Moore almost put Halesowen ahead in the 11th minute, after being gifted the ball by goalkeeper Matt Trott’s slip, but he was crowded out as the home defence regrouped.

The Railwaymen signalled their own intentions in the 20th minute but Aaron Griffiths cleared Michael Bartley’s shot off the line.

As Halesowen asserted their authority, Trott saved a shot from commanding defender Henry Eze and blocked well when Jay Denny was put through.

Goals always looked likely but with Halesowen finding trouble landing the killer blow, it was Didcot who went mightily close when Phil John lashed over.

The Railwaymen’s resilience finally hit the buffers when Halesowen’s Danny Edwards rose unchallenged to head home from Simon Johnson’s 73rd minute corner.

But Mark Draycott levelled for Didcot in the 83rd minute by turning to fire past Chris Kiely.

Yet the home side ran out of steam, when Denny capitalised on a poor clearance and lofted the ball over advancing goalkeeper Trott, allowing Moore to slot home his 22nd goal of the season in the 87th minute.
