Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Albion in pole position for Tamas
Monday 14th December 2009, 11:28AM GMT.
Albion are back in pole position in the race to sign Gabriel Tamas after his clubs agreed to loan out the defender.
Both ‘parent club’ Auxerre and Dinamo Bucharest, where the 26-year-old Romanian has been on loan, are now willing to loan him to the Baggies for the rest of the season.
That makes a deal increasingly likely, with Albion keen to take him on loan initially with a view to a permanent deal.
Reports in Romania this morning claiming a deal was all but finalised are premature, but progress is being made with Auxerre and Dinamo both softening their stance.
They had been adamant they would only entertain a straight cash deal, but sources in Romania claim they are now willing to compromise.
The 6ft 2in stopper has played more than 40 times for his country and has represented six different clubs, including three separate spells at Dinamo and stints with Galatasary, Spartak Moscow and Celta Vigo.
Tamas has spent the last 18 months on loan from Auxerre to Dinamo, but a series of alleged breaches of club discipline off the field combined with financial problems for the club have led them to agree the player can go.
Albion also remain one of a host of clubs monitoring Coventry’s Republic of Ireland international striker Leon Best. But reports claiming of an interest in Stoke forward James Beattie in the wake of his bust-up with Potters manager Tony Pulis are wide of the mark.

I see Dorrans is on the way out (as if!)
4 Million what a joke, the one thing Peace will not do is sell one of our jewels unless it’s for silly money! so I would imagine 8 million would be the price, what do you think??
yes i agree they’re is players in that league that aren’t as good and go for 10 mill.
Think of what we reportedly got for Ellington, Davies, Horsefield, Kamara, Koumas, McShane, even Greening. Come to think of it where has it all gone??? JP will make sure the deal is right, if it happens.
Saw that about Dorrans, several clubs interested, I agree with the fee, £8 million, much closer to the mark. Worst case scenario, should he go, yes he would be missed, is there anyone else that could fill his position? It’s obvious that Thomas is missed, look at last Tuesday. It has to be 3 points tonight in an attempt to keep the pressure on Newcastle
Report abuse
Dont you believe it.Dorrans cost £125000 less than two years ago and 4 million now is a fantastic profit in any businessmans book and Jeremy is foremost an excellent profit maker!!!!!
I agree number 1.
isnt this Tamas the party animal thats always in trouble??
1. 4 mil is a great price for a guy who played about 5 premier league games and done ok. In the championship looks a good players but is completely unproven, interest from Villa will completely unsettle him now. We need players so we can go to places like Spurs and win and keep a clean sheet, aye boing boing!
we all know dorrans wont be goin for less than 10mil hes already signed a long term deal so he aint goin anywhere soon. If we go up this season are we goin 2 sell our best players???
i think not!
this tamas bloke seems to be another good player i have no complaints about our january transfer targets
Report abuse
Confused…in one section ‘Transfer Rumours’ Albion are after Beattie but in this thread rumours are “wide of the mark” is this the same paper??
Anyway, if JP wouldn’t let Jonno go to Fulham for 4 Mil I can’t see him entertaining 4 Mil for GD. I think we should keep as many of our young assets as we can so that when we do arrive back in the ‘promise land’ we have a group of players that are galvanised as a ‘team’ not a group of individuals. As mentioned earlier 3 points are vital tonight so “come on you Baggies”
Oh, No.7 AlanWulfie, don’t you just wish you could afford him? But if £10 buys your football club, how can you expect to pay millions for a player of his quality? Now you go and find a nice quiet cupboard under the stairs because Man.U. lost at home to a BIG West Midlands club only a few hours ago and they’ll be looking to eat you alive!
James Beattie!!!!!
Here Albion are interested in Ronaldo also… And Torres…. And Gattuso…
As if Beattie will go to the albion. He has had his fill of the fizzy pop league with Sheff Utd.
Albion will probably sign someome like Hulse again on the cheap like always.
4 million is a great price. He will not sign the improved longer term contract so let him go. Gosh I wish we could win at spurs, they’d probably put 10 past us. Lets hope for a win tonight, I think a draw is likely v a team who have lost the last 4 and whos manager is suspended.
JP has publicly stated that we have no need to sell our best players unless the price is sufficiently over what we value him at. Whether or not we paid a small fee for him is immaterial. I suppose if someone offered £10 m it would be worth considering providing RDM knows who he wants to replace him and we can get the player quickly. Wer’e short of numbers already and recent substitute benches have highlighted this.
There are so many rumours ending up “wide of the mark” I think SEB is writing them…..
11 – there is only one club round here looking at Hulse… YOU (LMAO)! Another one of Jez’s “premier league” players – I hear Nathan Ellington is on the move…..
Oh Shadrag you are funny…… I can tell you had a good weekend and I’m pleased – I remember them well from all those times we played you !!!
I almost hope you are still there when we arrive next season – “every little helps” as we Tescos say !!

I dont know why people are even talking about
Dorrans leaving the club as its just not going to
happen,Iam sure if Jeremy Peace was to sell then
the price would be something like 10-20M
if Villa paid 8M for Petrov then I`d want at least
15M off them for Dozza.
Why is Graham Dorrans worth 20M ?
NO1.HE`S ONLY 22 YEARS OLD.
NO2.HE CAN PLAY ANYWHERE IN MIDFEILD.
NO3.HE PROVED HIMSELF IN THE PREM.
NO4.HE CAN SCORE GOALS.
NO5.HE CAN RUN WITH THE BALL.
NO6.HE HAS PACE.
NO7.SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL.
NO8.KNOWS HOW TO TACKLE.
NO9.DOESNT HAVE AN ATITUDE PROBLEM.
NO10.ALWAYS GIVES 100%.

Great to see happy back, didnt you say ‘spurs will put more than 9 past wolves’ instead we go there keep a clean sheet and double the amount of away wins you had in all of last season. I am really glad you didnt retire in the end, happybaggie the comeback king!
starting to look nervously over my shoulder at cardiff now, all our money being tied up is not good enough what about all the players sold over the last 3 years? wheres the prem money?
18, Tut Tut,Baggie, how dare you ask such questions, you will have the JP disciples descending on you, good question though!!!
theres no way mr peace is selling dorrans for 4m
infact theres no way hes going to sell our most improved player at all unless someone comes in with silly money lets not forget he sold them pub footballer curtis davies for 10 m
Report abuse
Lets get our own house in order before we start having a pop at the wolves who look alot more likely to survive in the prem then we ever did. Where is the money from the sales of all the players from the past 3 years and compensation for Mowbray? Where is the premiership money? Where is the parachute payment money? There is no answers from the club.
I’d love James Beattie he is a much better version of Bednar. He would never join us.
18 and 19. Have you not read what our own Chief Coach has said? There will be many clubs looking at bankruptcy in the very near future. Add that to the state of the UK debt and you two ought to work with Gordon Brown! Have either of you the faintest idea what another Wall St. crash could mean? Leave the finances of OUR club to the bloke who owns it. He’s doing fine and has forgotten more about money than you will ever know. Signed: Cyril John the Baptist.

Good to see you didn’t miss the opportunity for a good snipe at JP…..11 mins it took you!!
Thought up any solutions to the JP problems yet? Looked at the accounts to find out where the money goes? Thought not……
BRING BACK JOHN SILK AND TREVOR SUMMERS!!
I think we only let Greening go knowing full well we had a ready made replacement. Without one for Dorrans, I’d bet he hasn’t an earthly chance of going mid-season.
The REAL-ly stupid BaggieBoy! What was that you said about a betting shirt sponsor??? Any smart mouth comment about our magnificent result and performance sat?
Oh yeah Happy Baggie, didn’t realise you took part in the meetings whereJez, steve and Mick discussed our transfer targets. As for hoping we are still there IF you come up….. Carefull what you wish for our kid!
The Financial Director will be saying 4 million profit and that is good in anyone’s books and he can be very persuasive when it comes to money. The trouble is neither JP or MJ will look at the football side only the financial side & if we really want to go back up then we need Dorrans now & in the prem. The profit will be no good. True No3 where has all the money gone?
26, Warren,
You obviously missed my earlier post where I praised JP for being an excellent profit maker, trouble is profits dont keep us in the premier and our past continious feeble attempts to stay there and judging on last nights performance we will struggle to get back there.

11. Wunderingwillow. I “hear” that you spell “hear” with the letters “here”. Typical wulf fan, get an education and maybe then you will follow a proper football team.

I’m an Auxerre season ticket holder as The Hawthorns is too far away. Tamas showed very little and apparently spent a lot of time in Paris nightclubs, so he was sent out on loan. He loves smashing 30 yard free-kicks into the crowd and often played full-back after Sagna was sold, he was no replacement!
Yeah, I mean recieving £6m for Diomansy Kamara and £5.5m for Jason Koumas is absolutely amazing work by Jeremy Peace
