Taundry return is a lift for Saddlers
Saturday 12th December 2009, 11:27AM GMT.
Chris Hutchings hopes Richard Taundry is over his injury hell and ready to fight for his Walsall spot.
The midfielder is pushing for a start after being sidelined for six weeks following the reoccurrence of a hamstring injury at Wycombe.
Prior to that he has been out since September with the original pull meaning he’s had just 50 minutes of first-team action in exactly three months.
And boss Hutchings is hoping he can call upon the tenacious 20-year-old again.
“Now he’s 100 per cent fit and we’ve seen the last of his hamstring problems, touch wood” said the boss.
“He’s missed a lot of football and he’s aware of that. You get injuries along the way but what he had was a nuisance.
“It was a gamble playing at Wycombe and a setback for him but that’s football.
“He trains at 100 per cent every day and that’s a great attribute to have.
“He wants it badly, like the other lads, but he gives 100 per cent every day and works to his maximum.
“He knows he needs to keep doing that.”
Defender Jamie Vincent, 34, has also returned from a calf injury lay-off and Hutchings is delighted to have one of his most senior players back.
He said: “Jamie adds that experience we miss at times, he’s a good organiser and a good talker and competition for left back is good.”
