Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Kightly eyes a January return
Wednesday 9th December 2009, 11:10AM GMT.
Wolves winger Michael Kightly has set his sights on returning to action as early as next month after ankle surgery.
The 23-year-old had his operation five days ago and has started his rehabilitation with a view to being back in contention early in the new year.
Kightly was injured stretching for the ball in a clash with Barry Ferguson in the 1-0 defeat against Birmingham 10 days ago.
He said: “The operation was one of the most minor you can have and went really well. Hopefully I could be running by Christmas and then fully fit again at some point during January.
“If I can get fully fit, hopefully I’ll be able to help the team and play more Premier League football. It feels like I haven’t had that chance to be at my best yet and that’s frustrating and disappointing.”
Despite the absence of up to two months, Kightly revealed the injury could have been much more serious.
He said: “I went to see the foot surgeon and he said I could have dislocated my foot and also my knee as well. When you hear that, it puts everything into perspective and you realise it could have been something really bad.
“When I saw the footage of the incident I was pretty pleased it wasn’t a lot worse. The day after it happened I went for a scan and I was pretty down and disappointed to be honest. I thought I’d be out for a while.”

Unless you come back fully fit and like the Kightly from 2 years ago with pace then you won’t improve what we already have i’m afraid. You haven’t been the same since Paul Robinson did you a couple of seasons back.
Give it away Kightly, as a Championship player when you played you were o.k, as a Premiership player, you will never make the cut, you are injury prone, and in my opinion, finished
Report abuse
We need a young fast right-winger in on loan.
Does anybody know how many tickets we will get for Tranmere, roughly?
Unfortunate for Kightly. It would have been interesting to see how he would have faired pitted against the best defenses in the premiership when fully fit. Ah well, take your time and don’t rush back, make sure you’re 100%; we don’t want another Matt Murray in the dressing room!
On a different note; it’s always interesting reading other Managers and supporters views on games. Bolton’s media said they should have lost by at least 5 goals stating they were thankful that there worst performance of the season was against a team who don’t possess a natural finisher. They went on to say any other team would have run up a rugby score!
Sour grapes? Maybe but when a 34 yr old defender is your leading goal scorer you have to ask questions.
Keane to Wolves? I don’t think so; I think he’ll stay at Spurs…although in past interviews he stated his ambition was to play for his boyhood team(s). Liverpool (done that) and Celtic!
Man Utd’s defense looked terrible last night, esp against the long/high ball. Time to feed the HOFF!

2 you do sound frustrated mate….get yourself a girlfriend.
I think it’s a certainty that Mick will get a right winger in Jan, because it’s a position that’s letting us down this season without a fit and fireing Kightly.
Apart from a winger he may get yet another left back as cover for Ward I’d wager (for the same reasons)

2 frustrated yep you surley are.being a sandwell fan.no wolves fan will come out with sutch pathetic comment if i was you i would be too with no fans no sponsor.sad little club.

You and Matt Murrey should both go and get a job at ASDA because you are both made of glass and your wont get injured at the checkout line!
You and Matt Murrey are a waste of our wages!
He hasn’t been the same for a couple of years and has lost a yard of pace. Mick should have got cover for Jarvis and Kightly and not muppets like Surman or Halford.
Best of luck Kites, looking forward to your return! Get the injuries sorted and get stuck in for our survival push!
2+3 Sandwell WUM wasters!
A fully fit Kightly or Murray – unfortunately the latter seems more and more unlikely – would be like having two new signings. Fans have called for Jarvis to be dropped and that cannot happen. With our threadbare midfield, we need at least two creative sparks and that is currently – while Jones is unfit – only going to come from Jarvis and Milijas.
I see that Zubar, Iwelumo and Jones are on the mend and therefore suggest that we still need to look at resting Sylvan at the weekend!

2&3 its idiots like you that hinder Wolves. I either suspect that you never go to the Mol or if you do will constantly barrack and boo the team. Kightly is admitting he hasnt been at his best this season, but an in form Kights running at players with pace would improve most Premier teams and scare the opposition.
Kites if you dumb enough to read the crap so called ‘fans’ write on here then hopefully you understand it is just a few losers. Michael Owen has been written off many times, brilliant hat trick last night and shows class survives injuries, just be patient and it will come.
Tall story?
Spurs 1- Wolves 2

3. Nice to see the albion fans on here, mind you after that shambles last night I wouldnt want to go onthe albion pages, were you one of the 20k fans there last night?! Tesco value club, tesco value fans.

Come on Kightly, go easy on the Christmas pud and get yourself fit, you’re a good lad and need to shine your light into a few unexplored dark corners, places you haven’t been yet!
Relax and get fit. Whilst you’re off work, go and see a great band, Syllian Rayle, fantastic drummer, be right up your street Kights!
Good man yourself!

2. Baggie idiot or worse than that you are genuine and a total moron! We don’t need him??? I think we need all our best players (fit) and then some!!

WELL THANKS FOR GIVING HIM ALL THAT ENCOURAGEMENT 2 & 3 YOU PAIR OF BAR-STOOLS THIS LAD HAS BEEN VERY UNFORTUNATE WITH INJURIES DO YOU THINK THIS WILL HELP HIS CONFIDENCE. GO SUPPORT AN R.S.J

WELL THAT WILL DO HIS CONFIDENCE A POWER OF GOOD 2 AND 3 WHAT A PAIR OF BAR STOOLS YOU ARE.GIVE THE LAD SUPPORT OR GO SUPPORT AN R.S.J

just not good enough mr kightly, I’m afraid. Good enough for the championship, but decidedly average in this league.
Let’s all get real, we have 2 premier league quality players in our team, milijas and Doyle… the rest just aren’t up to it.
Robbie Keane is available for loan, he said last week how much he enjoys coming to Wolves and how well he gets on with the fans. If Morgan has any wish whatsoever to keep this team in the top flight he will bring him back until the end of the season.
Good news, but please, please, please, dont play again until you are 100%. Should have done like the Vila with Downing, out till october to begin with but only came back in december and looks to be ok, i.e being better to come back later than sooner !!!!!
COMMENT 2… A Baggie fan, obviously still annoyed you lost last night!
Dont rush back Kites, lets get you fit and 100% chomping at the bit!

2. Frustrted wolf.
I’m FRUSTRATED over people like you.
He’s a good player, 1 of our vital ones when he is fully fit. we dont need wasters like you on here.
Crickey.. give the lad a break, he’s been out best player for a few years now, so give him a chance and cut him some slack!
i fear we have newcastles micheal owen instead of the hero we bought for so little, please let the medical staff advise him to not rush back as i fear a matt murray coming on
Report abuse
Be back in time to do Paul Robinson then
Report abuse
good luck kights, a couple of additions in jan and we should be ok. utw
Report abuse
No. 2 & 3, your comments are ridiculous. Kightly’s been our best player by a mile whenever he’s played. In the championship we were arguably a one man team. He got 19 assists last season and around 7 goals u pair of prats! Once he’s fully fit he’ll be a great player, give him a chance he’s been injured all season.
Muppet Ince out McCarthy in! Kightly has got chocolate ankles
Report abuse
With support like that 2 & 3 who needs enemies. Lets hope neither of you are managers where you work cos I hate to think I would get my motivation from you guys…
Report abuse
I agree with number 3 we have seen the best of kightly, I’m totally miffed about the other headline on here about Blake though. He is no way in a million years a prem player but Mick says carry on Blake (he put a shift in on the weekend would you know) he has scored 1 goal this season from the penalty spot…and if he keeps taking penaltys like that and like he did last season a goalkeeper only has to stand still. BUT if Milijas doesn’t perform he will be dropped. I thought a strikers job was to score goals and a managers job to talk sense…I’m thinking we’re screwed on both counts. We beat a team on Saturday that are on a fast track to nowhere for god sake dont be dissilusioned.
2/3 are mild compared to wolvesmod/ad mant /bobwolf/ and jiwal they absoloutely hate mcarthy and everything he tries to achieve at wwfc, i mean after the birmingham match even i could’nt defend the team but this lot have got pure hate in thier words, anyway utw. hopefully get a point on sat.
Forget Kightly for now in Jan. we need a couple of proven, experienced campaigners to get us up the league. Mick has admitted that SEB and Doyle aren’t getting any chances, we must to do something about this or we wont score enough goals to stay up.
Good old Kites, obviously looked at Decembers fixtures.

Rot Jackson – brilliant! Poetic! Loved it!

Paul Scholes, James Beattie, Robbie Keane, Beckford anyone!! Please please please not Rob Hulse

I THINK WE NEED TWO EXPERIENCED DEFENDERS ,AND BRING BACK ROBBIE KEAN, IF HE WANT’S TO COME.
I THINK WOLVES HAVE PLAYED QUITE WELL SO FAR,JUST NEED WHAT I SAID ABOVE,AND I THINK WE WILL BE SAFE.

Seriously, when you read some of the points on this board you realise that McCarthy and this team have no chance.
Sign Keane, Sign Scholes on Loan ! Pah ! Villa or Celtic or Wolves for Keane ? Scholes ?! Why would he wind down hius career with a relegation dog fight ?!? Amazing.
Aarron Ramsey ?! Did anyone see the Arsenal game against Olympiakos last night ? Despite losing, that boy ran the show. Why would Wenger loan him out to a team in a scrap ??
Sell SEB ?! My god. He’s missed a third of this season with injury, its gonna be tougher in a league he’s never played in. Hows about a bit of support for both him and Kightly, two of the main reasons some of the Muppets on here are priveleged enough to comment on a premier league team !

Robbie Keane. Ticks all the right boxes: said he would like to come back to us one day, proven success at the highest level and above all he’s Irish, so come on Mick twist poxey Moxey’s arm and get him here in Jan. and don’t offer him fifty quid a week!
Fight, fight wherever you may be.

33. Blakey has been injured and the problem is him and Doyle together DO NOT work. Blakey and Iwelumo, Doyle and Keough, these combinations work. Halford for me is not doing alot, he needs to contribute more or find himself on the transfer list.
IN:
Keano (loan)
Jack Wilshere (loan)
James Beattie
Michael Ball (free)
Sol Campbell (free)
Ledley
Aswell as Foley, Kites, Jones and Iwelumo fully fit were be looking good. I just hope Joe Ledley being in Westbromwich on Tuesday didnt put him off the area as Wolverhampton is a city not the Sandwell dump!

New year wishes include, Less. “Gunna do this and that in the E&S and more practical action by the Wolves’players during the course of the match. They are out of breath talking to E&S reporters.
Return to size of the pitch back to its original size. Both Jarvis and Kightly and the running full backs get crowded out. Not a very bright piece of tactical thought by MM considering the success in the 2008/09 season
More practice in passing the ball wihout having to stop it and runnig into postions and helping each other out. PLayers please note, the ball is made round so that it keeps rolling.

what the hell are some of you on,,,,,sign keane sign scholes sign sol ,,,,,no chance these players are all on very high wages and theres no way wolves will pay even if we had them on loan and there clubs paid half there wages we would still have to pay £20 to £30 thousand over our wage cap so get real these players will never come to wolves,,,,WE ARE WOLVES,,,,ilk

41. My megative friend, Keano wont go to Celtic as they cannot afford him hence why they are after Graham Dorrans, (the albion pay poor wages and he wants out). He wont go to Villa as they are their rivals for a top 6 spot. He should come home.
I agree about Blakey and time and completely agree about Scholes. Some great business with realistic targets in January could see us turn out in the new year with the following:
Hahnemann
Foley
Campbell
Craddock
Ball
Kites
Wilshere
Milijas
Ledley
Doyle
Keane
A midtable premiership 11.

Michael Kightly, top of the assist charts 2008/2009, 19 assists and 8 goals from 37 starts, and this was supposedly a season where he wasn’t at his best. Can’t believe how quickly some people are to write him off, he’s only 23!!!!
Plenty left in his tank, get well soon kites and when your fully fit you’ll prove the muppets wrong!

41-Alex Raes Butler. Mate at least the players on my selection list (apart from Beckford) all have or play for EPL clubs. Most Wolves fans keep griping we have no “EPL experience”. Most suggestions on here refer to Newcastle & Cardiff players. Where exactly do they play…….mmmmmm yeah thats right the “fizzy pop league”. Personally I this Scholes would be great for us in midfield. Put some bite in there & he is not afraid to have a pot at goal.
