Sue Bridges aimed to do her bit for the season of goodwill when she leapt off a bus and chased after a fellow passenger who she thought had left her Christmas shopping behind.

But when the 44-year-old Centro worker finally caught up with the woman she told her the bags of goodies did not belong to her.

A bemused Mrs Bridges was left holding the bags of gifts in cold wet weather until the next bus arrived. Now she has appealed to Express & Star readers to help track down the true owner.

Mrs Bridges was on the number 99 bus in Quarry Bank, heading to Birmingham after a visit to Dudley’s Merry Hill Centre, when another passenger told her a woman had got off the bus without taking her bags.

She said: “I grabbed them, told the driver to put the brakes on and went after the woman. It just felt like the right thing to do.”
