Milijas could star admit players
Tuesday 8th December 2009, 11:29AM GMT.
Wolves players believe Nenad Milijas can become their complete midfielder if the silky Serb can continue performing like he did against Bolton.
Milijas was man of the match in the 2-1 win against Gary Megson’s side, setting the first goal up for Jody Craddock before scoring himself from fully 30 yards.
But it was the way he tracked back and tackled and made himself a nuisance to Bolton’s midfield, as much as his creative prowess, that made him such an important player for the team.
The Serbia national captain is prepared to get involved in the ugly side of the game to prove his worth in the battle for survival.
Craddock said: “He knows he has to do that ugly side of the game if he wants to remain in the team and he did it fantastically. I’ve seen his goal again and it was fantastic – amazing, but he does that in training all the time.
“His delivery is superb as well – I always feel like I can score a goal when he takes setpieces because they are pinpoint.”
Left-back Stephen Ward said: “I thought he was different class – going forward and defending, he showed exactly why he’s a top international player.”
Christophe Berra added: “Against Bolton he showed a different side to his game – he was winning second balls and headers and putting tackles in and he got his just reward.”
