Dorrans keeping focus on Baggies

Thursday 3rd December 2009, 11:29AM GMT.

dorransjiweftg.jpgMidfield star Graham Dorrans today promised Albion fans he will not be distracted by reported interest from Premier League clubs.

The Scotland international insisted he remains fully focused on returning to the top flight with Albion after emerging as the club’s chief creative player.

Dorrans’ flying start to the season has led to speculation over interest from elsewhere with Birmingham among the clubs reportedly keeping tabs on his form.

But the 22-year-old said: “No-one has said anything to me about it, so I am just concentrating on my football. I am happy here, so I don’t see why it would affect me. I just go into the games like everyone else and focus on the game looking to get three points.

“I want to take this club back to the Premier League.

“I am desperate to get back there. I’ve had a little taste of it and it was fantastic to get in the team for a few games last season.

“I picked up my injury near the end, which was disappointing, but everybody wants to be where the club deserves to be, which is in the Premier League.”

Dorrans has become a key member of Roberto Di Matteo’s team, who have hit 15 goals in their last four Championship matches.

And Dorrans believes the Baggies can continue to score heavily but he has warned that consistency is the key to staying in the top two. “There is a lot of class in the team and we have goals coming from everywhere,” he said. “For a few weeks we were a bit inconsistent but hopefully we have started that consistent run and can pull away from the teams that are chasing us.”

Hands off Dorrans, Alex and co! I hope he has a bright and long future with the Baggies. Can I also use this opportunity to apologise for catching him unaware yesterday by asking for one of his International shirts. Yeah, I managed to embarrass us both!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Dozza will be a fans favourite at the Shrine for many years to come and I firmly believe that he is a future Albion Captain.

He signed a new, improved contract during the Summer and should we get promoted, I’d put an even better one in front of him to ensure he’s with for at the least the next 4 – 5 years.

Well said GD….I just hope the paper don’t keep on about this non-story.

Graham Dorrens is under contract and although he is playing really well, no-one is gonna pay the sort of price JP will put on him.

Its a compliment when other clubs enquire about your players but there is no way that GD will be leaving – so E&D – GIVE IT UP !!!!!

1 – why on earth would you ask him for one of his most prized possessions ???

Did you think he would just give you his international shirt so early in his international career ??

I don’t think it was both of you that were embarrassed.

    2. Ned, We cannot improve anyones contract as all the money for the next 3 years is tied up on wages for staff. He is fantastic sometimes and in some games tends to go missing, if somebody offered 3mil with a sell-on clause it would be fantastic business. We paid 100k for him. We have Jara to move into midfield. David Moyes has been reported to be interested.

Thanks for posting my comment (3) – but why not post the earlier comment I made about the Dorrens story ??

Could it be because I called it a non-story being touted by the paper ??

I notice Jex Moxey is spurting on saying its the injuries they’ve picked up is the problem.

19th March 2009: We won’t do an Albion.

Blimey Happy, the first 4 out of 6 comments are all yours. Nice to see you back in full flow and not retired from the field of battle. Dorrans would be foolish to listen to offers right now. He’s playing regular, effective first team football, he’s attached to the Scotland squad, he has a manager who knows all about midfield play, a crowd who think he’s the cat’s whiskers, a long contract with a stable, well run club. Carry on like that and only Man.U. or Chelsea would be worth the upheaval. And the risk!

    8. He is a good player. But I cannot see too many premeier league clubs after him, he is not a jot on some of the midfielders we have had in the past, I hope the attention is not going to his head.

Every player at every club (with the exception of the big clubs i.e Man Utd etc) will move on at one stage of their career.

Dorrans was another great find by the Albion and and should he move on, I’m sure JP will get a good deal for the club.

I notice Shadrag’s up to his old tricks again above on post 5 and Truewolves as far as I’m aware Derby drew 2-2.

A point away from home is always good and I’d have taken that before kick-off and I’d certainly taken it when we were 1-0 down. Obviously having been 2-1 up so late on it’s disappointing that we couldn’t hang on.

Still in the top 2, 6 points ahead of 3rd.

    UP THE BAGGIES!!!
