Harriers boss looking for response
Monday 30th November 2009, 8:45AM GMT.
Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates is looking for an immediate response from his players after a disappointing defeat at home to AFC Wimbledon.
The team crashed 1-0 at Aggborough on Saturday to Danny Kedwell’s 20th minute goal, which proved to be enough for the Dons to avenge their defeat in the reverse fixture in October.
Harriers again saw their chance of putting three wins together for the first time this season go with the result but there will be little time to mope – as Yates and Co will be straight back in action with the visit of Tamworth in the Blue Square Premier.
The manager warns he will be expecting to see his side desperate to redeem themselves, and to be equally anxious to get themselves back into the play-off picture and bridge the three-point gap from the top five.
He said: “We have got to put this one behind us quickly and the boys have just got to get on with it. We are back in training today and I don’t want to be too hard on the players, because we have got a game tomorrow night, but I hope they have had a look at themselves.
“I want them to have been thinking – ‘how could I have done better’ or ‘what more responsibility could I have taken’ because they cannot give me another AFC Wimbledon after Oxford and Kettering.
“They have got to raise their standards and keep them this time – that is what good teams do and that is what good players do.”
