Albion’s Koren out for a month

Monday 30th November 2009, 10:00AM GMT.

COV V WBA 7 EB 24Albion midfielder Robert Koren will be sidelined for around a month after the club confirmed he needs surgery on a hernia.

The Slovenia international missed Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday after visiting surgeons on Friday to learn the extent of the problem.

Head coach Roberto Di Matteo has now confirmed the World Cup-bound star will require an operation to correct the problem.

He said: “Robert will need an op. He’s got a hernia in his groin area and he’ll be out for three to four weeks.”

Koren has joined fellow midfielder James Morrison – who has a heel injury – in the treatment room after his long-standing hernia pain got worse.
