Nothing to choose for McLeish

BRITAIN - Blues presserBirmingham manager Alex McLeish believes there is no difference between his side and Wolves as the two promoted sides meet for the first time as Premier League clubs.

Blues make the short trip to Molineux on Sunday for the high noon showdown with the home side facing fellow top-flight new-boys for the first time this season, while the St Andrew’s club have already been beaten at Burnley.

But the visitors come into the game in a healthier position after climbing to 13th in the table some four points from safety, while Wolves have slumped into the bottom two after seven games without a win.

Nonetheless, McLeish feels there is nothing to choose between the teams ahead of the West Midlands derby.

He said: “The passion is there from the fans, first and foremost. Then we’re rivalling each other in the same parts of the division, in the Championship last season, and now in the Premier League.

“Against Aston Villa, whom our fans would tell you are our main rivals, we’re not at their level at the moment. But us and Wolves, there is no difference either way and therefore this is a huge game.

“They have home advantage, and their manager Mick McCarthy will be grilling his troops to go all out for victory. But we believe we’re every bit as good as them and we’ll be going to Molineux with the confidence from recent performances.”
