Fatigue caused Doyle to miss game

wolvesburwWolves striker Kevin Doyle has revealed he had to miss Saturday’s defeat at Chelsea to get over the fatigue from the Republic of Ireland’s draining World Cup play-off marathon.

The £6.5million record signing admits he is still having sleepless nights over the unsavoury ‘Hand of Henry’ affair that led to their controversial exit to France.

He said: “I came back last Friday and travelled down to watch the lads on Saturday. In a way I’d have liked to have gone out there and got it out of my system then but the sensible option was for me not to play.

“I did struggle to sleep afterwards, am still going to sleep now thinking about it all and I’m sure I will be for a while to come yet.”
