Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates believes his side have set the standard after another super-show took another three points at much-fancied Kettering.

The Aggborough club are within four points of a play-off place after back-to-back wins culminating in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Rockingham Road, courtesy of goals from defender Duane Courtney and in-form striker Matthew Barnes-Homer.

Harriers barely have time to draw breath before another tough game awaits tomorrow night, as the team head to Wales to face Dean Saunders’ much-fancied Wrexham side.

But no one will want to face Yates’ men in this form, with two of the top three in league leaders Oxford and the Poppies the latest to fall.

The manager insists no one is getting ahead of themselves as the players look to put a run together, but believes that a barometer has been set that now needs to be aspired to.

He said: “We’ve raised the bar, we’ve raised the standards that we’ve been setting and that’s pleasing.

“We can go into the game with a lot of confidence. Beating Oxford and Kettering has got to give the boys confidence – but we won’t get carried away.

“They’ve got to look after themselves and we will be back in today to prepare properly. It’s a big game for us because it’s our next game and I have asked for the same performance.”
