1,000 jobs on way at office

Monday 23rd November 2009, 4:59PM GMT.

A £50 million office complex at Junction 10 of the M6 in Walsall which it is claimed will create up to 1,000 jobs has been given Government approval, it was announced today.

The Tempus Ten development, which will feature three giant office blocks spread over 80,000sq ft has been approved by Secretary of State John Healey, minister for housing and planning. It means Oakham Developments is free to begin work on the scheme which has been in the offing since 2007.

A second application is expected to follow for neighbouring land to be used for the building of 80,000sq ft of warehouses.

Walsall Council had to send the plans to the Secretary of State for approval.

James Checketts, from letting agents GVA Grimley, said: “With the offices and the industrial side of things the jobs it could create will be around the 2,000 mark.”
