Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Chelsea 4 Wolves 0
Saturday 21st November 2009, 5:30PM GMT.
Wolves got what was expected at Stamford Bridge as they capitulated to the might of rampant Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Falling behind after five minutes to Florent Malouda’s rocket hardly helped, before a brace from Michael Esisien had Mick McCarthy’s men three goals down inside 21 minutes.
Joe Cole’s first goal of the season for his club in the second-half completed an emphatic win for Chelsea.
In truth, it could have been more, as Wolves struggled to cope with the onslaught of a team with a 100 per cent record on home soil this season.
Their bid to keep it tight was broken in the opening minutes, as Jody Craddock’s tame clearance was picked up by Malouda.
The defenders backed off and backed off, allowing the Frenchman to pick his spot from 22 yards.
He then set up Essien for his first goal on 15 minutes, with a corner that set up an unmarked header at the near post for the second goal.
There was a second goal for Essien to follow, as his shot squirmed under the body of goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and a real drubbing looked to be on the cards.
Wolves managed to keep them at bay but could not hold Chelsea back for the rest of the game, as Cole tapped in Salomon Kalou’s lay-off in the 56th minute.

“It’s not the size of the dog in fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog” Come on you Wolves !

I have just read Mr McCarthy’s after the match comments. Coupled with three B’s statement and the Doyler one I am most firmly of the opinion that this man is totally and completely out of his depth. I am afraid that he is making Wolves and the City of Wolverhampton a laughing stock. Doesn’t someone in the in the Hierachy at Wolves realise this and act before it is too late. It is little wonder that the TESCO mob are thriving on the situation!!!!!!
Never expected to win but could have been much worse. We simply lack quality and Muppet is shown to be out of his depth with a team selection that did not contain the little qulaity we have – too many championship players with a championship manager. Bottom by Christmas, thanks Mick, Moxey and Morgan – your lack of ambition is evident and you’ve already blown it – never mind we’ve got £25mil in the bank, to buy countless more lower league bargains….PATHETIC!!

Listening on WM, Mad Mick, does not have a clue,
talks rubbish,no tatical know how, but said my lads
put in a good shift. That will not keep you in the
prem. Wrong team selection started three central
defenders. (against Chelsea)Hennesey should have saved to goals.Costing us in this league,Mcarthy talking like he did at Sunderland talking negative, no reel postives.
After the next three games if we don,t have at
least 7 Points, its goodbye Mick. When it will probably be to late.

we kind of expected this type of result at the hands of the big 4, but the number of goals we’re shipping is a concern. Whilst we also kind of expect to lose at Utd too, I hope it won’t be another 4!
Seeing as how Henry and Craddock and the rest who voice their thoughts, all look forward to playing with the best, I’d like to think that some of the lessond could be applied in the following games.
Our defence should be therefore performing better than they seem. It’s sure putting extra emphasis on the (now big three) games at home against the 3 x B’s!!
So come on guys and get behind the boys and let’s hope our famed attack gets some self esteem and confidence and a bit of recklessness so we can just play without a care and lash a couple of goals in, whilst the defence toughens up and plays a little imperiously like they were a few months ago in a ‘previous life’ (Champ Lge)
Why is everybody so shocked?? Chelsea are the best team in the league and it showed. Arsenal are he second best. We lost to both.
For me the season has been suspended for 2 games. Bring on the Blues. Now that game matters.

IM SORRY BUT IVE LOSt ALL PATIENCE WITH mick mcarthy lets get rid and bring in a young forward looking manager like fergy junior

Just got home from the Bridge. Attach no blame to the players who appear to be doing their best but are simply not good enough. Blame this joke of a manager who assembled them at a cost of some £19 millions. It is all over, we simply don’t have what it takes……..
11 v 11 is where the similarity between these 2 clubs ends unfortunately. When a club is bank-rolled by a Russian billionaire, with players bought for tens of millions, you might expect it to do rather well.
Unfortunately, the Premier League is far from a level playing-field these days.
Should of been 15-0.Wolves have to make some very clever buys in January to avoid complete humiliation.Wayne needs to be “rested” and a Premiership goalie brought in(not Hanehmann)
We need a quality battle-hardened Premiership Midfield general as CAPTAIN,also a Premiership experienced Centre back, and somebody who knows where the goalposts are.
To be honest, I always expected a result like this. Chelsea were absolutely awesome today, if they don’t win the league, im an Albion fan honestly! We must focus on next week now, an absolute massive game, and the lads need us more than anything at the moment. The support from our lads today was absolutely fantastic, bloody brilliant. Hopefully this can continue next week and throughout the rest of the season.
WE ARE WOLVES!
IN MICK WE TRUST! :)

The only positive today was Matt Jarvis, didn’t understand what Mick was trying to do with the team starting with a back 3. I think all round it’s the missed opportunities in our home form i.e. West Ham, Hull and Portsmouth if we had got better than what we did get from those three then obviously this result and the Arsenal result wouldn’t be so hard hitting.
The next two games must be 6 points, if we loose those two games then, well can’t see any change made in the dug out by our board however I don’t think there’s any excuse for not surviving this season after spending 18 million on the squad. Yes a big difference with the cost of Chelsea’s team however our lads have competed well in most of the games this season but still Mick needs to find the missing piece of magic or quality? Or better organisation, finding out what’s our best 11?
I do believe the team has enough quality to stay up, despite a bad day at office Hennessey has been brilliant in goal this season, Craddock has lead the back four very well, Berra has been one of a few surprise packages in our team this season like wise Henry though I’m not a huge fan of his but he has performed well especially against the Villa and there was Keogh at the very start of the campaign.
Kevin Doyle has been a huge plus, Zubar looks decent and Millijas as shown his quality and though number 27 couldn’t play today Mancienne still brings quality to the team as well, Richard Stearman has been good and then there’s Matt Jarvis who’s set pieces have been his most improving aspect of his game.
Move on towards Birmingham and one big positive thing that the lads have done this season is bounce back, after West Ham win at Wigan, after Blackburn win against Fulham. Hopefully the third is the result come next Sunday.
It would be unfair to point at any one player in the team. But we desperately need a world class goalkeeper.
Shame. They played well & we didn’t. The other way round we may have stood a chance. But, it’s exactly what we all expected & after the first 3 looked like it was going to be a lot worse.
Craddock’s clearence was a bit lame but Malouda still needed a world class finish…which he effortlessly produced. When we get similar opportunities we panic & don’t even got a shot off.
One big positive was Jarvis looked back to his best, but that was about the only good thing.
Simon :)
Mick out while we still have a chance. The man just can’t cut it at this level.
This result was pretty easy to forecast. It’ not games like this that will decide Wolves fate, but games against lesser teams. Unortunately we havent been doing so well in that department so far and unless we take at least 5 points from Blues, Burnley and Bolton at home, we are down.
Watched the game live on ESPN here in Brazil. Looking at M.M. on the touch line summed up everything for me, he is normally very animated and shouting instructions to players. Today he zipped up and said nothing. Mr Moxey please make money available to spend on quality Premiership Players in the next transfer window or we are going back to the Championship division next year, you cannot expect to play football and stay in the Premiership without spending real money.
I understand we are not going to beat the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea but if we do not buy some quality players we will not beat the likes of Burnley, Birmingham etc. The Chelsea game proved to me my beloved Wolves are a team of journeymen and nothing else, in the game we were made to look like a team from the old Vauxall Conference and I mean OLD.
This game was an embarrassment and unless something very drastic is done we are going down next year.
I think we can all see the effort from the players is there but we just not good enough !!
The fact that Mick is totally out of his depth has been proven categorically by the thrashings from both Arsenal and Chelsea. He is looking forward to a dog fight to stay in the Premiership.
Mick’s total lack of tactical ability means that he cannot begin to compete at this level.
Morgan needs to protect his investment and that can only be done by sacking McCarthy now and recruiting somebody like Curbishley who will ensure our survival in the Prems.
Why shoiuld we go back down again just to satisfy the ego of McCarthy. He gave his best and he has failed, so be it. Thanks for what you did, but the time has come to part!

Could have and should have been 10.
Once again we have a Manager who hasn’t got a clue how to manage at this level.
We deserve to go down, we are a joke. Same old WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS.

I really dont want to be the first to say something but i really have to get it off my chest, people can say what they like, i love the Wolves and would love to see them stay up, but under Mick Mccarthy i cant see it, 3 5 2 against Chelsea is mad, we cant defend with 4 defenders but what does Mick go and do play 3. Wolves fans need to get their heads out of the clouds and smell the coffee, Most of the Wolves players are’nt good enough, Karl Henry, Castillo, in midfield too weak and clueless, preach all you want these players are just not good enough, Mick took us up with nothing, yeah thats right, hes spent 18mill and were are we in the league, Dave Jones took us up and he was the best thing since sliced bread, what did he have to spend NOTHING! what happened, we sacked him, so really Mick is not Super Mick, he is a good championship manager at best FACT, henry is championship at best and that is saying a lot. Say what you want Wolves fans but you all know you will screaming for Micks blood. FACT.

Where did it all go wrong from last season, from being promoted so early, we did nothing in the close season to improve the team with the exception of Doyle. Our team does not seem equipped for life in the premiership and i don’t think the management is equipped for it either.
Why bother with Halford as he is idle and serverely lacking in talent and i suspect that is why sunderland ofloaded him. We are weak in defence, limited to going sideways in midfield and clueless in the last third.
As for Mick and co saying that the three B’s (Blues, Burnley and Bolton) and the winning of them them matches hold the key to our survival.
Look where we are to them, Burnley fight for every point, the Blues are putting wins together and i am sure megson will have bolton fired up. The best from them matches we can hope for is draws as Mick and Connor do not know how to motivate the team or provide them with tactics for winning.
As far as i see it at present we are doomed to relegation. I hope not but there is only one way we are going at the moment.

Okay, let’s stop kidding ourselves here! We are far from being a premiership team and until Morgan spends the money he promised when he took the club over (and at the same time gets rid of Moxey…….please!!!) we will forever play the game of up for a season and down for a few.
Unless we spend money comparative to other clubs and bring in the talent which is woefully lacking (sorry boys but you just aren’t good enough), then the inevitable will happen. Time to get real and spend the money. It might be too late already but don’t delay come the Jan window!!

I was at this match and it was embarassing. I thought we’d put in a much more stubborn performance but it was a “rabbit in head lights” situation again. Just like last week.
In the first half an hour we were afraid to even challenge for the ball.
We let in 3 soft goals – Henessey should have done better with two that squirmed under his body. Time for a break for the youngster?
Ebanks Blake, Kightly, Berra and even Henry were very quiet – completely out of their depths. Jarvis was our best player and was the only one who actually had a go.
Overall, we lacked bite and our attitude was all wrong. We went in to Stamford Bridge afraid and it showed. The confidence of our players looks low and it will be hard for the management to lift their spirits up for the next game.
I’ll be there again because we will not survive this season and I just want to see as much PL football while I can – i, like many others have waited long enough. But it hurts and not enjoyable when it’s like this.

Another clueless display, and what on earth wa sthat formation? The players we have are simply not good enough to adapt, and we have now piled a heap of pressure on ourselves for the next home games. The team has RELEGATION written all over it.Morgan, yiuy have no idea what is necessary to keep us up….its EMBARRASSING

The positive from this defeat is, it seems most fans are starting to see what is unfolding right in front of their eyes as all the above reports suggest this.
It does not make these honest and frank fans Love the WOLVES any less or lower there support for the team, In my eyes these are true fans who care and feel the hurt just like I do.
We lost to CHELSEA that is ok ,What is not ok IS once again as in previous games we gave away GOALS GAVE THEM AWAY!!We showed we have not learnt anything from similar goal giveaways this season.Whether these players are not good enough makes no difference as some of the goals we are conceding are pathetic and most pfofessionals from any divison any level will be able to defend! This is a major problem yet in terms of rectifying this it should be very easy to resolve by the basics being applied, and they are not being done! Who is to blame? = MANAGEMENT.
SOLUTION GET RID!!
Alot of wolves play is very very disjointed we can at times have reasonable amount of possesion but we hardly ever create a chance!!
Who is to blame?= MANAGEMENT
SOLUTION GET RID!!!
I am not jumping on the bandwagon this as been coming from as early as jan 2009!!!!We were in the championship!!Look at our results and they will tell you !!! We got promoted as READING and other teams even BIRMINGHAM could not win they went on similar poor run of results!!!!!!
Mick has to go I do not wish to write abuse about him other than simply say ” LOOK AT HIS WIN RATIO IN THE PREMIERSHIP AND GOALS CONCEDED”I rest my case.

I attended yesterday with hubby and children. Over £300 paid out before we even stepped on a train.
I thought that we were the fans yesterday, but it seems I was wrong. The players were star struck and looked like groupies.Wolves playerts Swapping shirts with chelsea players afterwards only emphasised that.
I expected to get beat never expected to take anything from the game. But it is the manner of the defeat that is so upsetting.
It seems wolves players weren’t allowed to tackle chelsea players, jockeying them all around the pitch. The opening goal was a testimony to that.
MM has to learn very fast ie by next week that he cannot keep playing players out of position. I was nevber a fan of MM and wanted him paid off after the QPR game but he is the manager.
In addition I don;t think SEB will score any goals at this level. He is too lazy and wins few headers and hangs off the opposition defence until he falls over feigning being fouled.
Get Vokes back from Leeds he will run all day and is a strong lad. I might have even preferred to see Maierhoffer at this game.
Must win game next week.

Forgot to say funniest moment of the match was when a wolves fan in the lower tier threw his shoe on the pitch after the ref failed to give anything when a chelsea defender touched the ball whiclst on the floor on the box.
Whilst the stewards are all rushing to the area, Petr Cech picked up the shoe and personally handed it over to the wolves fans. Incredibly sporting of him

WOw. I read some of your comments above with increasing exasperation. Someone has the temerity to pronounce on the basis of two heavy defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea that Mccarthy is clueless and must be sacked. You are a moron plain and simple if you cannot grasp the very simple truth that Chelsea (to take one of the two teams) should beat us in the manner they did. How many millioons have Chelsea spent on players in the Abramovich era? Chelsea made the Champions league final two years ago, lost unluckily to Barcelona in the semis last season and are top of the Premier league. Chelsea will hammer better teams than us so for you lot to start moaning on about being clueless, not having passion, ambition etc is just a load of pathetic crap. Face facts and get real. John Terry’s wages are about the same as almost our entire squad
Oh and if you are embarrassed to be a wolves fan then stop going, stop listening and stop watching because we dont need people like you at our club. Your constant negativity, moaning and ill informed comments on forums such as these are not welcome.
Win or lose I’m proud to be a fan of wolverhampton wanderers. All I ask of the players and staff is that they do their best.

I have to say living here in South Africa don’t get the chance to go to many games, But they show all the prem games so i have seen wolves a lot this season.
I agree with everyone that its good to put in a shift and to show that we are up for every game but that wont keep us in the league, we lack really quality, and thats the manager fault.
Cant see how we blame Moxey if we get relegated which likes possible at least we wont end up like once great leeds united.
As a passionate wolves fan i would rather see the club being run properly than going back to the 1980′s where we nearly lost the club all together.
I know its frustrating to be a yo yo club but rome wasn’t built in a day it will take time, would you want wolves to spend a load of cash and to risk the future of a great club on one season, chances are if we do go down at least we stand a good chance of returning.

I have read this blogg and it appears that several “Away” Fans have posted–
Watched the game on ESPN packed with Wolves fans in Wolves-I have to say we are really not good enough and I have to say the worst display I have seen for some time–
Players are really not good enough and the body language of some makes me wonder why they are with us.
No fight cannot do basics, several rated particularly our forward shown to be ordinary if that.
No fight and apart from Mat-Chelsea played the game like a trainning outing.
The next two games are really important if we lose then we are back in the Championship.
Make no real comments about MM but “This is his Sunderland all over again”.
Will be at the Blues game and hope for a win but repeat that display and we are doomed,
Fail to accept the Doyle abscence ” Fatigued” well I know lot of players who play the game- who would love to be tired on twenty grand a week-He is the only player of PREM standard we have and if he was just on the bench I would accept that excuse..

Having said that, the next 3 games are vital to our season. I do not think you can put too much of a point on it.

When you look at most of last season we played 4 4 2 and played quick counter attacking football which won us the league if i remember, the mainstay of that side is still there. Now for what ever reason the coaching staff keep changing the formation and we have not got a settled side.Whats going on, look at burnley nice settled 4 4 2 week in week out players know exactly each job role,it not rocket sience Mick.. Another thing i wish the players stopped talking each other up in the press and started to earn the right first, i mean were second bottom afterall

I agree with lone wolf, what do you expect against a team like Chelsea, Mcarthy is usually agitated at the team, but there was no point we were going to get beaten who ever he played, yes most of the football from our players was disappointing to say the least. I believe he rested the players who will be picked against Birmingham, which is the right thing to do. Our season will be determined by what we do against the bottom 8 teams and anyone who thinks any difference doesn’t understand the Premier League.

Outclassed
I didn’t go to the match but watched it on TV.
McCarthy chose the wrong game to try a formation that we have never played, while he has been manager & it showed, not that we seemed to have a formation.
It’s hard to pull any positives from yesterdays performance, but I thought Jarvis & Surman did OK, the rest were v poor, we were nowhere near them, Chelsea had so much time on the ball it was embarrassing, the build up to th 3rd was a joke, touch, pass all the way through we just didn’t close them down, then to cap it all, Hennessey decides to dive over the ball, not once but twice, I couldn’t help but notice that there were no such mistakes for Wales last week!!!!
I’m probably in the minority here, but I can’t see what Castillo gives the team, he’s been poor virtually everytime he has played, as has Halford the only reason, I presume he is in the team is because of his ‘throwing ability’ not even that worked yesterday, I saw his inclusion as a wasted opportunity to get some much needed football time into Kevin Foley & Milijas ahead of what are 2 critical home games.
Stearman down the left just isn’t working & is v unfair on the lad.
I think McCarthy needs to have a long hard look at himself this week, he doesn’t seem to know what his best team is & we need to start playing a settled team & playing players in their correct positions.
I will try not to be too critical as we were playing away at arguably the best team in Europe. To only lose by four when it was 3-0 after 20 minutes was credit to the players and Mick.
However, there were very little positives to take from the game other than Jarvis looking very dangerous and almost setting up a couple of goals. Starting with what looked like a 5-4-1 formation was naive and we were cut apart early down the flanks. We then changed to 4-5-1 but that wasn’t much better!!
Criminal defending for all of the first three goals and it is now time for the whole of the back 4 to be changed.
Questions for Mick;
- Where was Doyle? Why was Surman playing? What is the point of Halford if we do not use his long throw as a weapon? What is the point of playing 5 at the back if nobody knows what they are doing? Why is Craddock, not good enough for the Championship, playing in the Prem?
All of this stems from poor summer signings who have made no influence and we are basically back to our championship team with no Dave Jones, which wasn’t even our best team last year!!!
Job done Jez??
35… I too saw the shoe throwing idiot – he should have been carted out with the rest of the idiots in that section. There is no place for idiots who want to throw their shoes onto the pitch at a footnall match.

the real barometer is where we are in relation to 17th place. we are not adrift and with 3 winable games coming up the situation can soon change.
as for MM’s record in the prem he had no funds at all at Sunderland and after he was sacked things didn’t improve for then did they?

Come on all of you, what did you expect in the Premiership? We are always going to be in a relegation battle in that kind of company. Miracles do not happen. Even if we had started like Hull did last season we would still struggle. It has nothing to do with Wolves as such, it’s all about money. Man. City are/were a mediocre club treading water in the Prem and with a huge influx of money they will be challenging for honours in a season or two and a permanent fixture in the division. Our 30 mill wouldn’t pay the wages at Chelsea so crunch the numbers and face up to it, we are passing through again just like the Baggies, it’s good for the accountants and a trial for the fans. Enjoy it for what it is,because all the moaning done on here ain’t gonna change a thing. I’ll be there as usual cheering ‘em on because I am a Wolves fan but also a fan of the game so when the Arsenal’s and the Chelsea’s come to the Mol I will admire their skill and hope for a crumb of comfort from my team. Simples!

Billywiseman you are spot on. Yet again another embarrasing and totally inept performance. Regrettably with this manager’s strange team selections and apparent lack of tactics there is only one place we are heading and it certainly isn’t upwards. Changes please Mr Morgan before it is too late.
I have not read all the comments because what has been written about Wolves is too depressing but something has to change because we are heading for the trap door!
I wouldn’t think anyone seriously believed we would get anything from the Arsenal or Chelsea games BUT what concerns me most is the high amount of goals we are conceding PLUS the fact that we are not scoring any ourselves!!!
It seems that if we play 4-4-2, we get stuffed, if we play 4-5-1 we get stuffed, so what next? – all 10 in defence?
We were never going to upset the big teams in the Premier League but it seems we are not going to upset any teams at all!
With Brum, Burnley and Bolton (our bogey team) all to play soon, we need results but can anyone see even 1 coming?
So, do we change the manager? – Do we bring in more experienced players in January, IF they will come to a team going down or do we slug it out and hope we can change things around?
The club must do something otherwise the inevitable will happen and we will once again return to the Championship without even a whimper AND Mick McCarthy’s reputation for being good enough as a Prem manager will be in tatters!
There are still enough games to turn things around but it must happen quickly before we are cast adrift with nowhere to go but down!
I think many fans, particularly those that went to the game yesterday have reached the same conclusion that with the current manager things do not look hopeful. The formation against Chelsea was an utter disgrace, we knew we were going to claw back some collective pride. Mick comes across as a honest and amiable chap – and it is a shame that football at this level does seem to allow these qualities to prosper but his combined record of results for Sunderland and Wolves must make him one of the worst premier division managers. What we need now is clear direction from Morgan – either he wants to make Wolves into a force in the Premier League or all his words at the end of last season were pure window dressing. Time for some big and brave decisions, before it’s too late.

Have to win next 3 or its all over, Does anyone really believe we can stay up? Start planning now how to get straight back into premiership and stay there. Afraid Mick cannot be part of that plan.

First and probably the last time I will go to Stamford Bridge. the first thing you notice if the luxury and splendour of the place. Facing is the Marco Pierre White restaurant with the Frankie Dettori grill on the side. As one fan poined out, “they have Marco Pierre White – we have Mr Sizzle!”
The same was seen on the pitch
The fans – absolutely fantastic – outsung the home team and far better quality in their department than the players department on the pitch. I felt so sorry for them having to watch this abject display
Attack – EBanks Blake for all his contribution might as well have stayed in the dressing room making the half-time tea. No one attemped a shot from just outside the penalty area while Chelsea were shooting from all angles
Defence – the policy appears to be back off, back off and back off again. Malouda was allowed to shoot without any opposition whatsoever.
When Keogh came on, although much maligned, he did show some bottle in the penalty area.
In the second half I think Chelsea got bored and even started back passing it to Cech to stop him getting bored or freezing up due to lack of action
Then we have the wise words from the Mighty Muppet on match of the Day. ” We wuz bluthered”
Obviously some highly technical phrase outside the depth our our knowledge.
HAPLESS – USELESS – HOPELESS – RUDDERLESS

very poooooooooooooor defending,we must get dirty on the pitch with these prima donnas,we need a at least 9/10 keeper because at the moment we’ve got a 4/10 keeper, micks tactics are a joke, we need a downing or hibbit in the middle to kick a few feathers in the air,it’s time to get down in the dirt or we’re down like the boggies, sort it out mm, still up the wolves.
You could have predicted most of these comments. All I worry about at the moment is team morale. If our heads go down in the coming weeks, then yes, we have got a real problem. A win against Blues will make so much difference and we must get behind the lads on Sunday.
We knew what was going to happen so lets get on with the next match. Still got the fans on side so anything is possible. Is there a better manager than Mick who would come to the Wolves? I don’t think so, come on Morgan sort us out please be positive in the January window.
another futile change of formation/personnel; yet again, conceding soft goals through unforced individual errors; and, once more, ‘key’ players doing nothing to bolster their already tarnished reputations. MM MUST settle on a starting line up, preferrably one that tries to maximise the strengths of our own players- we’re neither individually nor collectively astute or able enough to neutralise better opponents at this level; as ’40′ notes, we’re still in a position to climb the table, but Mick needs to stop confusing containment with being truly competative
Report abuse
It’s amazing how a few weeks can turn MM from a decent manager to the worst in the country. Anybody on here who thought we could get anything out of this game needs their head checking and look at every one of Chelseas home games….we never stood a chance! Wake up and realise that from the day we got promoted this was gonna be a bitter relegation battle

come on guys, calm down, if you dont want to pay loadsa money to watch your team get thrashed then dont go to the games against the big four, you gonna get thrashed against them away from home 9/10 time thats y its so so sweet wen you dont. and maybe mick isnt the best, but he got us here and bloody lot of top managers have failed to do that, so give him a bit of support. if you get on the teams back you might as well stay at home cuz that dont do no1 any favours

LONEWOLF OR LOANED BAGGIE!!
Yes I and all other true wolves fans did not expect to get much from the arsenal and chelsea game We also did not expect that our defence would be so overly generous as they have been in every game this year.Especially in the last two games just look at the goals conceded, these goals were not down to arsenal or chelsea ripping us apart with their superior play and players!!These were dreadful pieces of play from our players and I as a wolves fan cannot and will noe expect this!!!
I will also add that ONLY recently BARCELONA were given a lesson that you dont have to be multi talented to compete when the russians showed what can be done just by defending as a unit!!!My beloved team wolves have got beat in games against no-hopers teams who do not have toilets at there grounds remember CHORLEY.
So my point is you dont need to be earning millions and worth millions to defend!!You need unity and togetherness and spirit along with a playing style and beleif and I tell you for nothing We would not have been humilated the way we have.
We have had portsmouth and Hull both at home and both before our hammerings at the hands of chelsea and arsenal and what did we do ??????!!!Yet burnley and birmingham are on better runs and sitting pretty so dont be fooling ourselves we are favourites as we are not.Over decades DAVID AS OVERCOME GOLIATH we need a DAVID…..IF we got say JOSE MOURINIO these very players who some say cant play in this league will finish in the top half.!!
The DAVID as to be the MANAGER and I am sorry MICKO you are not DAVID with this I thank you and say goodbye.
I will always love WOLVES with all my heart as this is all I know but I will not run away from reality and be problematic like LONEWOLF I will always have the courage and conviction to write the truth.

64 It may have escaped your attention that during the summer, players were bought to rectify the problem of taking Championship players into the Premiership. Remember the refrain of Moxey and Muppet? “We’ve bought the players to keep us in the Premiership -job done!”
Really? Then why are we holding up the rear?
Have you forgotten the Porstmouth debacle already? Not only the first game they won but away on our pitch!!
Job done eh?

Lol your comments just prove that Wolves fans in general have little or no intelligence.

Mad Muppet Mick Must GO!!!!
Out of his depth having wasted most of the transfer budget on numbers not quality. Doyle & Zubar the exception.
Johnson left his Wolves medical for Blues and they have the third best defence in the prem.
Sack him now to save our season, get Fergie junior or Sean O’Driscol (Wolves fan).
Bring in Ikeme as flapper Wayne is dire!
I see Sunderland beat Arsenal with just one striker at home and packed the midfield, a tactic we should be applying.

Hmm some agree with me, others seem to think that I must be an Albion fan in disguise. I’m not. I love Wolves just as much as anyone else but that doesn’t mean I can’t be practical about it.
Sack Mick? Ok let’s say we do get rid now, who comes in. Mourinho? Yes he wants out of Inter and European football to come to a struggling Premier league team mid season doesn’t he? You say you will not run away from reality Wanderer in Eire but then talk of replacing Mick with someone like Mourinho! While we are at it lets get Robinho from Man city, Ronaldo from Real and Messi from Barca! People as good as Mourinho are already in higher profile jobs with much larger transfer budgets than we can offer so I feel that it is only sensible to continue as we are, and if Mick fails to keep us up then we replace him at the end of the season. Mccarthy deserves that I think.
You also say that under mourinho our current squad could finish in the top half. If that is true (which I doubt) then why are you blaming Mccarthy and not underperforming players? And if it is true then why would you want to get rid of the manager that put it together?

Come on guys get real.. Henry has to be dropped. I listended on the radio and make a note of how many times his name was mentioned in the first half and it was TWICE.
Edwards is no where near good enough either, nor is Halford.
We might have a fighting chance if we played our best players, but week in , week out, we dont.
I can’t see us beating Birmingham. I think they look a decent outfit to me, and as for Burnley, I suspect we’ll get a hiding from them.
I’m embarassed about being a wolves fan. Nothing to do with Chelsea and Arsenal. I look at West Ham, Portsmouth and Hull at home, and we couldn’t beat any of them.
Mick has to be sacked at Christmas if we are still adrift at the bottom. Otherwise we can wave good buy to our quality players and we’ll have a team full of Irish miss fits playing mid table championship football next year.

How many were actually at the game yesterday? What would sacking Mick McCarthy actually do? Who would you bring in… o let me guess.. PAUL INCE, He proved himself in the Premiership didn’t he

It’s not the loss to top 4 sides but the decimation that smarts. Its not the dropping of ponts against the top 4 that gets us worried, its the DROPPING OF POINT AGAINST EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE RELEGATION FAVOURITES.
someone mentioned it earlier – you cant knock the players – you can see they are playing their hearts out. They simply arent (bar one or two) up to Premiership standard.
Who is responsible for bringing them to WWFC?
Exactly.
Another young and hungry on Micks shopping list and I dare say we will have a very strong Championship team for next season.
Mick and the board have shown their intention in the last transfer, and I have no doubt it will be more (or less) of the same in January.
Coyle and co are able to lift their game, added to some astute signings and almost upset a couple of the big boys, but it is clear Mick and Moxey are incapable of this.
If i am a nugget for thinking we’ve been short changed, then NUGGET ME UP BABY !!!

Did not expect to win but try and get a draw would have been as good.
Do not understand the formation, and I do not think the players did either.

No one likes losing – and to Chelsea for me is even worse – not because I think we should be anywhere near beating them – but because I have never liked them since the swaggering 70s !! But – reality has to kick in now. We should lose to Arsenal and Chelsea AT THE MOMENT ….and that is the vital statement !! We have to build a squas that is capable of staying in this division first and go from there. With some sensible additions we can do this – and do it comfortably – as did Stoke, Fulham, Wigan and Sunerland before us. Wait until we have played Birmingham Bolton and Burnely. If we are not atleast 7 points better off by then – and hopefully 9 – then we will need a very serious and radical rethink – but at least not until then !! Come On Wolves !!

When will you sycophants realise that it isn’t the losses to Chelsea and Arsenal that have put us in the position we are in, after all we haven’t played those two teams every week. We have also West Ham at home, Portsmouth at home and Hull at home, total haul from those three games? One point. Also, take a look at where Burnley and Blues are in the table.
It isn’t about Chelsea or Arsenal (even though we were shocking in those two games), we just haven’t performed against the teams in our part of the league. That, my happy clapper friends, is why we are where we are.
I have always thought Mick has done a reasonable job 352 at Chelsea stupid and tactically inept.
In the summer he bought a huge target man presumably to hold the ball up and put himself about during hard away games, the lad has not been played.
David Edwards in my opinion has stepped up to the plate, Jarvis’s pace will always be a threat Doyle different class, Hennesey will develop into a great keeper but is not at this level yet, likewise Stearmen, Zubar looks half decent for the price paid, Kightly (as much as i like him) has found his/their level, the Champoinship, will continue to shout myself hoarse but changes need to be made otherwise we will have a ready made championship team
Report abuse
If we don’t beat the Blues I think MM has to go, I’m sorry but it’s all about results and our camapaign so far has to be judged against our miserable record against fellow ‘lower’ teams – read Hull, Pompey, West Ham, Blackburn. Preferably Moxey would go as well but somehow I don’t think he will, if he reamins in Jan all he will do is sanction piddling one or one and a half million pound players that will completely doom us to relegation. What our great club needs is ‘real’ financial backing. The Blues for Gods’ sake bought players costing 4, 5 and over 6 million BEFORE Carson Yeung!!

As you wolves fans are eating your lunch I am waiting for my breakfast and reading all 66 comments. I watched the game on Fox and after 10 minutes was embarrased for the team and sorry for all the supporters who had paid good money to watch a bunch of badly managed proffesionals being given the runaround.
I completely agree with the comments made by No. 66. I to have been a wolves supporter all my 66 years but I have to say that this management could not arrange a piss-up in a brewery

The team we put out would have struggled to get a result at QPR never mind Chelsea. To consoliate in the Prem you need a step change in player recruitment and the Board as directed by Moxey have not been prepared to make that change. There is a lack of real ambition to turn us into a Premier side.
We all like Mick and like the players, he does his best.
The fact is that you don’t stay up because you’re a “nice guy.”
He has always been and will always be a Championship manager and if the Board had the necessary bottle, they would have recognised that, paid him off after QPR and planned for the new season with a Premiership class manager.
We finished top of the League and now look the worst of the 3 promoted by some distance. The answer is simple but everything seems far too cosy at Molineux!

The one positive thing to come out of this season so far is that on most of the games the players have tried their guts out and are together.BUT the manager has to do his part and our defence is relegation material.Last season our best PARTNERSHIP at the centre of defence was Stears and Mancienne,Have they played together yet????Once again players playing out of position. However you look at it it is down to the manager,he is selecting the team and so far is not making a very good job of it.He is slow to spot players out of form and keeps them in until it hits him in the face.By then it is much too late. Why buy players that are not as good as those we already have??Three 6 million players in the summer would have made a difference Not 8 inferior players for 18 mil. London Wolf
In 40 years of watching the Wolves I have never been so humiliated. We were appalling, no spirit, no invention, no defence, no teamwork and no pride in the shirt. And how could anyone have pride in those awful shirts – can Messrs Morgan, Moxey and McCarthy tell me why we even had to change strips? We even had to change the away socks so that they would not clash with Chelsea’s.
Coming back to Clapham Junction on the train I overheard some Chelsea fans saying that was the worst ever display they had seen from a premier league team visiting Stamford Bridge and that Wolves were absolutely certain to be relegated.
How can anyone disagree?
Maltawolves, yes we have played 6 of the bottom 8 some without the new players being available. we still have to play the other two and the others again so still plenty of points to play for. If you don’t think that our season will and always was going to be decided about the bottom half of the table when you need the best players you have available, then yes like many of the other contributers on here then you don’t understand the first season in the Premier League. Why keep on about Sunderland this is 2009.

Not entirely surprised to read many of the views expressed on here. It’s well known that some haven’t wanted MM as manager from the start – for reasons unbeknown to me (I thought the board were right not to give Ince the job). I guess those fans must have absolutely hated last season. There must have been a lot of pent up frustration around as Mick and the players proved them wrong week after week. Some have been itching to vent their spleen for a long time then and it comes as no surprise given our position and (some of) our results that it’s happening now . I know that it’s not the majority view on here but I believe wholeheartedly that we should stick with Mick. Despite my fondness for Graham Turner, Mick is, I think, the best manager we’ve had at the club since I’ve been going down the Wolves (1976). Changing him would be an act of madness. Even if we were to go down (and I’m not saying we will), I still think it would be mad to replace him. So you know where I’m coming from. And yet, this season seems strangely reminiscent to the one before last when it seemed that Mick didn’t know his best side. I believe that last season’s team would beat this one comfortably and would like to see it unleashed (injuries permitting) though, clearly, with the addition of Doyle. Attacking sides with wingers has to be our best bet doesn’t it? Sure, Jarvis lacks composure at times but still he takes the game to the opposition, gets past fullbacks and causes problems. (Yet still fans like to moan about him…) And how are Kites and SEB going to get better/fitter playing in fits and starts? I’m not sure why we narrowed the pitch and wonder whether we’re allowed to widen it now that we’re well in to a season. Anyone know? But anyway, we’re not Stoke and shouldn’t use them as a blueprint. We don’t know how to play a pressing game and shouldn’t even try. If we take the game to Blues, Bolton and Burnley and attack them with pace and conviction we can get results. So a plea to Mick – come on, if we’re going to fail, let’s at least have a go and be prepared to fail on our own terms. We are better-placed than we were last time we were up but we’re simply not making the most of what we do have at our disposal. And a plea to everyone else – come on, lighten up a bit – reading this stuff just makes us all feel worse. At the Arsenal game, and despite my obvious disappointment with the way things panned out, I could just about cope with the fact that Arsenal were 3 goals better than us. What I couldn’t cope with was the bloke next to me who moaned to his wife for the entire 80 minutes he was there.

Not an unexpected result as was the Arsenal match but we are now loosing any touch which we had in the early part of the season. How can Burnley be playing better than us when we took the Campionship by storm last year? I think we thought we were better than we actually are. We ended the seson playing rubbish but started this one playing well but with the continuing problem of failing to take what few chances we have made. We need to start scoring and we need to win the next three home games. Come on Mick and the team it’s time to stop promising and talking everything up – just start doing it on the pitch and it’s not too late. The fans will still be behind you but please start scoring!!

Didn’t get to see the whole match, however the bits on match of the day showed how much respect was given to Chelsea ! our players we’re not closing down as they should and let these top class players play their game. Yes I admit Chelsea we’re a class act but come on at least fight a bit!
On a positive point there has been some good play in this league and there’s no real reason not to do so again!
Wolves went up champions not like Burnley so why are Burnley in a higher position ? they want it more don’t they?
Come on Wolves lets not go back to the championship not again!

Man you know its bad when the Baggies aren’t posting on here, if they are feeling sorry for us we must be in all kinds of trouble. Didn’t expect a result other than what we got, what was disappointing was the manner of the performance, our wort in some time and it happened to come against the best side in the country maybe Europe. The next three games must yield a minimum of 7 points minimum otherwise I fear even if we are not dead and buried psychologically we will be. Blues and Burnley are in great form and we are not which makes these games even harder!!! And Bolton are never a soft touch. If we fail in the next 3 games change at the club may be a must if we are serious about staying and competing in this league.

Forget Chelsea. Better teams than us will be beaten 4-0 at the bridge this year.
Never thought I’d say this, but I think Keogh needs to start. Surprisingly he has made the step up to this level with greater ease than Ebanks-Blake.
Our strongest team IMO is Hennessey, Mancienne, Halford (or Ward when fit), Craddock, Berra, Kightly, Jarvis, Castillo, Milijas, Keogh, Doyle.
Henry goes missing for long periods. Milijas is vital if we’re going to score against Brum/Bolton. Keogh somehow seems to link the team together. Keogh doesn’t seem scared to play at this level whereas Ebanks-Blake seems to want to get rid of the ball asap. Dave Edwards is also worth a shot as he has looked capable and could be a worthy replacement if Kightly doesn’t step his game up.
I agree with resting Doyle against Chelsea. Get him 100% fresh for the next few games.

The thought of sacking MM is laughable. Get a grip. You people make me angry.
We’re in the best overall position that we’ve been in for 25 years.
Look at all the clubs who have made the step up from championship level to premier level. Most have been a yo-yo club for a while before gradually making the transition.
I believe it’s the likes of you people who demand changes whenever we’ve had a few bad results that have held this club back for years. Go away we don’t need you.

Suggestions that MM is above the likes of McGarry, Barnwell, Turner or even Jones in the past 30 odd years in nonsense.
The man is a loser and has taken us to the top table totally incapable of staying there.
Yestersdays starting X1 was a good championship level side, no more. For all the summer signings he obviously has little faith in the majority of them, once again wasting good money.
We are probabley already relegated but maybe a change at the top might just give us half a chance by bringing in some experience in January.

87,John Spain. It is blindingly obvious that we srarted the season in a mini league of which we need to finish above 3 other teams to survive.Unfortunately a third of the way into the season we have only Pompey below us,MM still does not know his best starting Eleven,The new players you mentioned even when fit cannot get into the team.MM is to stubborn in his ways to accept that performances whilst being 110% effort are totally devoid of quality,an ineffective forward line,Midfield without any real creativity (Why wont he play Mijas)And finally a defence error strewn week in week out. With regard to Sunderland yes this is 2009 but has MM learned anything from his failure with the Mackems,it would seem not, if we continue to ship goals at the current rate then we are looking at 76 plus which would lead to the inevitable-Championship football.Like ALL Supporters who post on here i am Wolves through and through but use this site to air My views as i see them.Nobody who loves WWFC Should be saying that we cant compete with the likes of Hull,Wigan,Burnley,Portsmouth etc, etc,We have the Fanbase BUT DO WE HAVE THE AMBITION.As has been overly stated the next 3 Home games will go a long way to shaping our season i just hope that sufficient points will be gained to see us begin the fight for premiership survival.

Is it only me who thinks that we would probably be doing better if we had spent nothing and just kept the unity of the team from last season,…yes we would be prob in bottom 5, but id put money we would still have as many if not more points than we have.
Ive has a season ticket for 14yrs but have already decided im not renewing,…i feel totally betrayed by Moxey and Morgan with false promises,…and while im on a moan I also feel sorry for the people who bought the White away shirt, only for 1/3 of the way into the season for it to have been reduced to half price,…you ought to be able to get the difference refunded in my opinion!.

the more we play the big boys the more mick looks out of his depth just look at his body language and comments at the match ,,i dont blame the players its the management and coaches that have not got a clue, what is o conner still doin there get a proven premiership manager in there like curbishly and they will get them players playin to there full potential this lot are coachin what talent they have out of em look at burnly no big money just good management wake up morgan moxey is lining his pockrts through you no wonder he looks so smug he aint bothred what division we are in as long as those booking fees keep coming in you are different its not about the money with you its success so go and get and rid your self of these hangers on

We showed chelsea too much respect and stood back in awe Our players never got near them and that 352 formation where did that come from there is just not enough quality in our side.
In this division established clubs play against world class players week in week out
So our likes of ebanks blake kightly etc are,nt going to do any damage
and why does mm keep persisting with dave edwards all the guy can do is run he can,t hold the ball and find a pass i hope with all hope we stay up but at present we just aint good enough

Yeah, lets keep McCarthy because no-one would want to come to this shambles in any case. All the ST holders were duped again by Moxey and his spin. Ah well, at least there is 25mill in the bank to look good…. play offs in 2011 ??

Just arrived home from the game.
Great weekend – great ground and we lost to a great team.
We were out of our depth but so are 16 or so other teams in our league. It is how we perform against these 16 teams that will see where we finish.
p.s. anyone who went to the game find a trainer?
I will repeat myself I sated that MM and Conners were out of their depth in the Premiership when it comes to tactics. They play a system that is too static and we do not have any quality players except Doyle and FOLEY, but for some reason Foley has been bannished only to be replaced by Holford (a complete joke).
We have played with plenty of endeavour but have also not had the run of the ball and a little bit of luck which everyone needs.
It is a fact that we must get at least 7 points from the next three matches or we are doomed…. I think the managment should be sackes and bring in either Curbisly of Copple.
Biggest mistake not paying 8 mil for Huddlestone in the summer.

94 comments and not one has picked the main fault on saturday. Someone needed to give Essien “some welly” WHEERE WAS EDDIE CLAMP WHEN WE NEDED HIM, he would have “clumped” Essien 3/4 times in the first ten minutes and Essien would have been looking where he was and not running midfield. We are not strong enough in the tackle and no team has won the league without a “chopper” – we need one to stay up

All I’m going to say is thank God Drogba and Lampard didn’t play it would have been a bigger drubbing.

Again another change in system. Stoke play one way to their strengths. Our manager thinks he is a tactical genius. He is’nt. The worst thing about Saturdays performance was Chelsea did not break into a sweat. We have no quality it looks like a bleak winter.

It’s getting to the stage where Mr Morgan is going to have to do somthing about the management team, the vast majority of fans knew MCcarthy is nothing more than a championship manager, we need a total change in manager/ass manager/1st team coach etc etc. What mcarthy was doing saturday tactically and team selection wise just proves he has learned nothing from since the last time he managed at this level.
MCARTHY OUT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the basis of the mini league in which we operate and taking account of the teams played, we are 3 points behind the 37 points target to avoid relegation by my reckoning. 3 wins at home in our next 3 matches would only put us back on target (since my target is an average of 2 points against the teams in our mini league at home).
Applying this across the mini league sees the current standings as follows:
12th – Burnley +5
J13th – Blackburn and Wigan +4
15th – Birmingham +1
J16th – West Ham and Bolton 0
18th – Wolves -3
19th – Hull -5
20th – Portsmouth -7
MM says we now have to realise we’re in a relegation dogfight. By my calculations, we’ve not been out the bottom three since the home draw against Hull

Nice and positive from the usual plebs, The lower half is so tight at the moment who knows what is going to happen after christmas. As long we keep in touch with those around us we stand a chance.
The Prem is no walk in the park, and was never going to be!!!! Some of you out there need to realise this !!!!!
Sack MM and Co, and what exactly would that achieve ??? nothing so drop it.
Come on You Wolves !!!!!!

After going 3-0 down in 25 mins I thought we did reasonably well to keep it to 4-0. Nevermind “we got mullered” what about the basic defensive errors?
We need to get a nice touch-line sofa to accomodate some of the players who prefer to spend thier time sitting on thier arses rather than playing football.

What a joker playing 5 in midfield away from home this guy as lost his way. We need to spend big in January to stand a chance…

It was always going to be difficult to get a result against Arsenal and Chelsea. We can complain all we like about team selection, but if the players don’t do their job then winning games will be difficult. One win to kick start the season again, keep the faith. c’mon you wolves

We are simply not good enough. Against both Arsenal and Chelsea, it was men against boys. And let’s not forget performances against Pompey, Hull, and West Ham – hopeless. With the exception of Doyle and Mancienne (and Craddock !!), no one else would bother with recruiting our players. Zubar, and Milijas are both good players but don’t seem to gel with the manager’s plans. We will be going down, but our younger players will be better for it. Stearman, Kightly, EB, Jarvis, and Hennessey (and Surman) will cruise through the Championship. Henry is clearly way out of his depth – Stoke knew what they were doing when they offloaded him to us. On another issue, why have we not brought in Carlos Edwards – he’s playing in the Championship ! Do we need a new manager ? Probably, but any change must be made now or it won’t make a difference. The obvious choice is Alan Curbishly. Maybe even Kevin Keegan !!!!!!!!
Just write off the last two games, the young players have had a lesson that quality counts. The top 4 are so far ahead of everyone else its unreal. We drew with Stoke (away), Everton (away) and Villa at home which means we can compete with the best of the rest. Taking the points off the sides around us is vital in the next three home games. Once again the fans were magnificent and at the end of the game all you could hear is ‘we are wolves’. Expect Wigan and Bolton to thoroughly be dragged into it this season.

Lets look at the facts. Our playes aint good enough and whatever formation we play won’t change it. If we get rid of Mick who would come here who was any better. nobody thats who. Players don’t sign for struggling clubs in the window so forget that. We need to go down get in a young manager and yoyo for a couple of years.

Let’s judge the team after this Sunday…

This is the first time i have posted a negative comment on Mick but i feel the time is now to sack him, why?
Mick said in an interview. dont ask me how to beat chelsea cus i dont know!
i couldnt catch my breath, i dont care how big the cap is in the teams but surely if he had anything about him he would know that if there was a chance he knew where it would come from.
i would of preffered Mick to say there is a huge difference in quality but i have a plan.
Sack this fool now!

Now is not the time for feint hearts and whimpish comments. We were never going to win against Arsenal or Chelsea. Earlier we got draws with Everton and Villa and Stoke and with luck could have won two of them. These are the teams we must do well against.
Hennessay seemed at fault with two goals but the problem is in midfield where we need a Jimmy Bullard or a Lee Bowyer (or a Paul Ince).omeone who can get us to play as well as stop the opposition.
Sunday is a big day for us but please don’e expect us to win three home games on the trot. how many times has this happened at Molineux in the last century. Five points would be a real help but it’s up to Mick and the lads.
Keep the faith. magical Mick will prevail.

131, George B Berry good post cant argue with most of that, especially about Carlos Edwards, Curbishley would be a great choice if MM was to go…Not Keegan though cos when the going gets tough he heads for the hills and it doesn’t get any tougher than being at Wolves this season. Still in shock that no Baggies have been on here gloating and stirring (except the obvious fake laughingwolf) especially after they battered Bristol.

“We got mullered!” is stating the bleedin’ obvious Mick. Reading the comments here they seem to be borne out of a mixture of love for the club coupled with frustration. We have been here before Mick, and we didn’t like it then. The Wolves have to decide at board level if they are in the Prem to have a go, or go through the motions and keep an eye on balancing the books. Moon Face Mox loves his books as we know, I think he has far too much clout at the Mol, he is not a football man. What worries me is this, has Mr.Morgan got one eye on the turmoil at Liverpool, his self confessed first love. I feel given the op-portunity he would bail and join the scousers in a heart beat, and who would blame him? he is his own man. It’s time for a show of commitment in some other way than a statement issued through Mox. Mick’s hands are tied financially, he can only buy what he can afford, and if they are not good enough what is he to do? A new manager would have to work under the same constraints.Tactics? the shrewdest tactician can only work if his players can impliment them.

Sack the idiot, playing a 3-5-2 formation against Chelsea! what a joke.
Why didnt we stick with a 4-4-2 like we did against Arsenal, we gave them a game for 30mins or so.
MCCARTHY OUT.
he aint a premiership manager.
on a positive note, young Andrew Surman looks good.
get flapper Wayne out of goal and get Carl Ikeme in

I hope Mr Moxey and our illustrious owner know how to use a results predictor. At the moment, unless we strengthen considerably, I can’t see us picking up many points at home in the New Year, let alone away!

HES A LOT BETTER THAN HENNESSEY

Wolfmanmac – decent comments. I agree that the shrewdist tactician can only work if his players can impliment them. However, since all bar Craddock are players than MM brought in, and he’s been at the helm for three and a bit seasons now, he surely must be aware of the limitations (and strengths) of his squad and play to these. I don’t necessarily mean the last two games – but I’m not the only one who has questioned his tactics in the more relevant games this season

Who agrees that this is our best team:
30. Ikeme
27. Mancienne

20. Milijas

I saw the whole game live in Australia at 3.00am Sunday morning our time as a passionate Wolves fan for many years.
Most has been said already on this site, much of which I agree with, and like so many, if we can get anything out of up coming games against Birmingham and Bolton, then we will be relegated….We did not lose with any dignity to Chelsea, we were a beaten team of battlers before we ran out at Stamford Bridge.
No one has mentioned on this site exactly why Kevin Doyle was not included in the squad against Chelsea, and if anyone posts that the poor lad was ‘heart broken’ after the two games he played for Northern Ireland, and was too ‘depressed’ to take the field, I will be sick on the spot.
Kevin Doyle was rested, poor lad, after two games against France in which he was on the losing side…Come on, the guy is supposed to be our best player, he cost us 6.5 million and I have little doubt receives upward of 25,000 a week, he is fully fit, and along with Jarvis and Edwards, could have salvaged some pride for the team to go into the Birmingham game next week. But no, we played the same team for most of the 90 minutes, bringing on Kightly and Keough minutes before the end…we ignored Milijas and the ‘Hoff’ again.
If I was the Manager, ( I would have fallen on my sword by now ) at least at Chelsea…I would have played Doyle, brought on Keogh much earlier who seems to be the only Wolves player who understands Doyles style of play, and I would have brought on Milijas early, and given the ‘Hoff’ 30 minutes in the second half, as nobody really knows what he can do. I would rest Hennersey for Carle next week.
Three players we should be looking at as far as their future at Wolves is concerned are Halford, Ebanks ( Will never make it in the Premiership) and Kightly, who has been a wonderful player in the Championship, since his injuries, I believe is finished,,,he was an embarrasment in the past few games.
But, like the rest of you, McCarthy is going to lead up back to the Championship, he lacks the quality of most of the other Managers, and I would be looking at the assistant managers of some of the top Premiership Clubs, offering and paying them for a ‘baptisum of fire’ to save Wolves from the drop.
Too much respect paid by us to Chelsea on saturday.Sure,we are always going to lose to them at The Bridge but not enough ‘fight’ for my liking and the change in formation clearly didn’t work. Play the shape that suits us best instead of worrying about the opposition the whole time.
A couple of players look very low on confidence now and I would play the following team in our ‘must win’ game next week:-
Hahnemann
Foley
Mancienne
Craddock
Zubar
Kightly
Henry
Edwards
Jarvis
Doyle
Ebanks-Blake
We ain’t down yet,far from it,and 7 points from our next 3 home games will put us right. Looking at the second-half of the season,it is arguably easier than the first as we will,by then have already played away at Chelsea,Man Utd,Man City and Liverpool.
I’m very concerned with this performance, chelsea or not. These players are simply not adapting to prem football. They are very naive, slow, and paid chelsea far too much respect. The formation and team selected was unusual.I would have like to see Maeirhoffer up front, but Jarvis did ok.
If you dont close down the oppositon, allow free headers from corners, give the ball away in midfield, you will lose to ALL of the other prem sides. the only positives was that it was only 4 nil and that we created 4 half decent chances, 3 of which fell to Edwards who showed how poor he is in front of goal. SEB had a good chance but headed straight at the keeper.
As I said a few weeks ago, Hennesey does not command his area. He was a fault for the first goal against arsenal, and at fault for two goals this weekend.Mick needs to consider dropping him for Hanneman who might not be a better keeper all round, but has more experience. He should also consider playing Ikeme.
We have a 6’7″ giant and two wingers in Jarvis and Kites. Zoob nd Foley can attack and put in some good ball also.It works for Spurs. They have forwards and midfielders making hay from 2nd ball.Arsenal were/are apparently susceptable to the set piece and I believe Chelsea could have been occupied at the back some more with a bold selection.Tactics are just a plastic box o’ mints at the moment.

No signings in Jan = No Premiership in Aug
SEB and Kights need start performing and a new back 4 may well be the only solution for this level.
No more young and hungry either, what the hell is so difficult to understand about needing experience mick.
Thank feck for Jarvis, Wayne, Doyle and Henry all rising to the challenge. Keep it up lads.
