Mick’s praise for Elokobi attitude
Friday 13th November 2009, 10:02AM GMT.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has praised defender George Elokobi’s attitude to being dropped from the team.
The popular left-back was replaced by Richard Stearman for Saturday’s 4-1 defeat against Arsenal after playing in nine Premier League games.
But the 23-year-old showed his determination to recover his form with an impressive performance at centre-back for the reserves over Birmingham on Tuesday, opening the scoring in the 2-0 win.
McCarthy revealed Elokobi reacted well to losing his place in the first team and was fully supportive of his team-mates.
The manager said: “As ever, he was supportive in the dressing room and he’s a fantastic character. He’s alright, he’s fine. When I speak to them, there are no histrionics from anyone about being dropped.
“I don’t ask them particularly straight afterwards because if anyone asked me, I’d say ‘how do you think I feel being left out of the team, happy?’”
McCarthy also confirmed Matt Hill, a possible contender for Elokobi’s position, is still some way off making a return from his ankle injury, adding: “It will be a couple of weeks before he will be out training again.”
The Wolves boss reported little change in the condition of fellow casualties David Jones (knee) and Chris Iwelumo (foot).
He said: “David was worried about it for a while, but now he’s a lot happier with it. But I’m not sure when he’s expected back on the training ground.
“Iwelumo is just the same as he was last week – he’s going to be out for a few weeks.”

Another excuse to get his love child (Ward) back a.s.a.p
Its been terrible watching wolves struggle this year but one saving grace is witnessing Muppet Mick’s smirk wiped off his face as he proves what we all knew and that is “Mick you can’t hack it at this level”, so please do one for the good of our great club !.

Big George was probably relieved to have been taken off the firing line. In his heart he probably knows that he’s not at the right level yet. MM played him when the writing was on the wall for everyone else. Another sign of poor judgement on his part

Biggest donkey in recent history…get rid of him mccarthy before we get rid of you, clown

George came in when Ward was injured and has done his best. He is still learning and needs time. I have a feeling Mick and his staff will continue to work with him and there is more to come from George. I hope so, as he has a great attitude

AS I’ve said before on these pages George is nowhere near fit enough having missed a year to play at this level yet. Poor judgement by MM not to sign more cover for LB in the summer – we now have to wait until Jan and it might be too late by then. Shorey at Villa seems like an obvious target – we don’t have time to let new signings adjust to the pace of the Prem do experience at this level looks vital.

Can someone explain to me why MM has suddenly cast FOLEY adrift when we have a problem at Full Back…can it be he wants to make sure his LC WARD gets back in the team?

Foley was injured and doesn’t play LB. As for ward he was one of our best performers before he got injured, not to sure if any of you boo boys has seen him play this season?? I’m more worried about the amount of goals we are scoring, you could have the best defence in the world but if you don’t score you can’t win simple as.
