Bradley backing midfield partner

Mark Bradley/WalsallWalsall’s Mark Bradley believes his partnership with Dwayne Mattis at the heart of midfield could help him become a better all-round player.

Bradley and Mattis look set to line up together against Stockport on Saturday with Bradley hoping to get back on the scoresheet.

But he reckons the duo’s box-to-box style means both will have to develop the play-making side of their game.

“Myself and Dwayne work well forwards and back,” said Bradley.

“We’re trying to get an understanding and since we’ve been playing together we’ve got better. It will help out our game massively because we both know what the other one wants to do.

“I like to get forward more than Dwayne but now I’ve got to get on the ball a bit more now.”

Bradley is hoping for another net gain on Saturday after claiming a disputed winner at Edgeley Park in April.

Official records gave the strike as a Conrad Logan own-goal but Bradley said: “I tried to claim it. Whether it was given to me or not is another matter. It will be nice to get back to the league on Saturday after our FA Cup clash at Stourbridge.”
