Labadie sent back to Albion

Joss LabadieYoung Albion midfielder Joss Labadie is back at the club after Shrewsbury cancelled his loan and boss Paul Simpson blasted his attitude.

The Shews chief sent Labadie back to the Baggies in the wake of the team’s exit from the FA Cup at the hands of non-league Staines, with the 19-year-old also faced a stinging rebuke from Simpson over his approach to recent weeks. His loan was due to run until January.

Simpson claimed he had been disappointed with the displays of Labadie, Town’s second top scorer this season with five goals, since his red card at Morecambe at the beginning of last month.

The manager said: “Since then, I have been very disappointed with Joss’ attitude to training and matches. I decided it was in the best interest of our football club that he returns to Albion.

“I would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best in getting back to the player I believe he can be.”

The news will be a major setback for Labadie, who impressed for the Baggies during their pre-season programme.

But the youngster will be back in action soon as the terms of his loan to the Shropshire side allow him to play for Albion’s reserves.
