I owe the gaffer admits Moore

Friday 6th November 2009, 11:29AM GMT.

ALBION 14 SL 31Albion striker Luke Moore has thanked his boss Roberto Di Matteo for keeping his confidence high during his eight-match goal drought.

The former Villa forward was back on the scoresheet in the 5-0 win against Watford last week and has hailed head coach Di Matteo for backing him.

Moore said: “Me and the manager get on well and I know the boss believes in me. He tells me how he sees me as a player and gives me a lot of high praise on a one-to-one basis.

“He has told me how good he thinks I am and can be and it’s always good when you get a manager’s faith.

“Me and the manager see football the same way and that always helps. We have similar views on the game.

“It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet. It’s been hard for about four games, because I’ve had injuries and when you can’t train it’s hard to get your sharpness back.”

Why do I feel rather ill having just read how “like minded” Moore and RDM are?

He also “owes” the fans. Every Albion fan I know will forgive players lack of ability as long as they are seen to be putting in the effort. It is evident when players return with their new clubs. Consider the “reception” Ellington got last week. Yet players like Horsefield and “Big Dave” will always get a welcome. Most of us wish we had a tenth of his ability so we could run through a wall for our team.

Luke is right to thank RDM for supporting him – but 1 goal every 10 games aint gonna keep him in the team.

It seems he now has the support and management that he didn’t get under TM – but now he must go forward and prove that he deserves the shirt – cos there are players waiting to take it from him !!!

You owe everybody Luke, most of all yourself. Just because you had a half decent game doesnt mean you have repaid the Managers or the fans faith. I have probably seen 2 performances out of Moore in 2 years – Shut your mouth lad and let your football do the talking!

Happy_Baggie – I’ve been called many things in my life but what you said is the most insulting. I appologise for my warped sense of humour; I do not see Luke Moore being a potential future manager of WBA.

‘half-hearted’ Sir Terence? In Lady Jodie’s presence? Oh dear. How desperately uncouth.
Let’s hope the doubting demons that have plagued Luke Moore are gone because he could easily become a class apart. The ball control, the shot, are assets any striker would want, but you will get kicked playing up front Luke, so accept it. You and Cox will need to turn it on every week once Miller is fit and with Bednar breathing down your necks.

What I would like to see is Moore acknowledge the fans once in a while. In his 2 years with the club, I can not recall a single occasion he acknowledged the fans when scoring (a rare event), being substituted (a regular event) or even after a game. It doesn’t exactly endear him to me.

Sorry Lukey, you’ll never be anything for me whatever you do,not even a hat-trick in the play off final to get us promoted could make any difference. The villa connections means nothing by the way.£3M transfer and 20 grand a week for all the ‘non-effort’ last season as soon as you are away from here the better for all of us .Gimme a 35 year old Superbob/Horse anyday.

WOW! Glen, don’t ever sign up to help at Alcoholics Anonymous or Drugs Rehabilitation. Everyone deserves a second chance in any walk of life. Give Moore a bit of slack aer kid, because he could get 20 goals this season. Wait until then please.
