Wolves can win warns Elokobi

Wolves defender George Elokobi insists the team can buck the trend and beat Arsenal on Saturday.
The Gunners arrive at Molineux having piled up 16 points out of the last 18 in the Premier League, while they are unbeaten in 12 in all competitions.
Arsenal have beaten Wolves in their last eight meetings and have won their last six visits to Molineux going back to 1978.
But left-back Elokobi, himself under pressure after being struggles to adapt to the Premier League, believes Wolves can cause an upset and extend their three-match unbeaten run.
The 23-year-old said: “You have to respect all teams in the Premier League whether it’s Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea, but at the same time we also have to play our own game as well.
“We go into it believing we can get a result. Our last three performances have given a positive mentality and hopefully we can take that into Saturday and give a good account of ourselves.”
Elokobi believes Wolves’ performances against the bigger clubs this season give them belief after falling narrowly to both Manchester clubs.
He said: “We’ve played a couple of the teams regarded as the bigger ones in the division already in Manchester United and Manchester City, lost 1-0 and could have got something out of the games.
“We put in good performances in those games and have to approach this one in the same way and take it from there.
“I watched Arsenal last night, they’re a very exciting team who like to pass and move the ball quickly.
“We’ll have to be on our guard defensively, but these are the tests you want to face as a footballer and everyone involved will be relishing it.”
Wolves are also buoyed by a win on their travels after beating Irish side Wexford Youths on Monday night.
Elokobi said: “It was a good trip for us with everyone getting away together. Everyone enjoyed the game and even though it was a friendly, it’s always nice to get a win.
“Now we’re back preparing for Saturday which is a massive game for us. But they’re all big games in the Premier League, this one is the same and we’ll approach it like any other.”

I find this article quite amusing…Elokobi stating that he watched Arsenal and they’re a very exciting team who like to pass and move the ball quickly. Come on tell us something we don’t know!

Arsenal will be unlike anything we’ve faced this season. On their day I think that they are probably one of, if not the most attractive club side in the world.
Yet we can get something out of the game IF they are below par and IF We need to be in their faces for the full 90 mins. We can’t sit back with 10 men behind the ball, we need to have a go. May well end in disaster, but who knows.
Sorry George, I feel you need a rest. Stears or Mancienne in your position.

It was a cold night when the stork arrived at Mick McCarthy’s Chimney pot carrying it’s little bundle. inside the pityful cloth was a small figure and a note saying “feed and Water me”
And so it was done, by Micks safe hands, and the tiny figure grew and grew and grew until it was a massive, ugly, man Mountain at which point it said, Grinning from ear to ear “Boss I’m ready to Kick some Gooner @ss”
And so Big George was released on Saturday 7th November to destroy Fabregas and Van-Persie and so Send Wolves victorious and proud on Wards with 3-points.

I have always liked George but there is no way that he can be in the team on Saturday. The left side is a concern and I do not fancy Matt Hill either. Stearman and Mancienne are primed but this is not their natural side. Who knows Malone might get a run out at some stage of the season?
Are you sure of the facts ie winning every game at the Golden Palace since 1978. I remember a 1-1 draw but it might have been 1978?

You saw Arsenal on the TV did you George ? Yes they were awesome as were their reserves a couple of weeks ago.
Trouble is they’ve almost certainly seen you on TV too !
There is no time to learn your trade in the Premiership, particularly against a team like Arsenal, you need to be in the reserves for a few months to learn the art of defending and distribution. Sorry George, but, you need to be told.

body with half a brain knows he not up to it.

Very dissapointed at the venomous comments about George. He has, without doubt, struggled more than anyone this season – but he did miss the whole of last season and has clearly lost a yard of pace which is exposed at this level.
I’m all for resting the guy but not crucifying him!

Sorry George but I think you’ll better off watching this one on TV as well as you are un-doubtedly the weak link in our defence.
We cannot continue giving a player like George the chance to gain experience in the premiership when he has little experience of the championship, and in my opinion never looked good enough to play in that league either.
As stated by others Mancienne or Stearman to start at LB – I’d prefer Mancienne as he is quicker, has better awareness and can pass the ball.
Anyway, UTW and lets hope we can continue the unbeaten run!

Poor old George, bigging up our hopes for a result on saturday, and the discussions are about his inadequacy… Its unfortunate to say the comments left on this thread are all spot on and are a general concencus.
It’s a shame really… on his day in the championship he looked like he could be a future star until the injury. The quality in this league though soon sorts the wheat from the chaff… and George… you have unfortunately been deemed chaff. Proper chaff.
It doesn’t take the tactical genius of Wenger to see where the weak link is. If you’re on the pitch on saturday George, we’re doomed.
A new LB in January is a necessity. Shorey would be my pick.
