One chance of an upset warns Adi
Thursday 5th November 2009, 9:01AM GMT.
Walsall hero Adrian Viveash believes Stourbridge have just one chance to cause a cup upset but knows the odds are stacked against them.
The former Saddlers defender, who played against Manchester United in the Cup in 1998 which was one of 240 appearances for the club, believes the Glassboys could surprise their visitors in the FA Cup first round tie on Saturday.
But Viveash reckons the game at the War Memorial Ground is their one and only opening.
He said: “It’s their best opportunity, because if it goes to a replay then I expect Walsall to go through. I don’t think the days of shocks are gone, because teams can still get caught out. It’s why Premier League clubs lose to lower teams in one-off games.
“Clubs can have off days and that can happen to Walsall which is why they have to be prepared. Nine times out of 10 Walsall would expect to beat Stourbridge, but Stourbridge are looking for that one game out of 10 Walsall aren’t prepared.”
The 40-year-old expects the Glassboys to take the game to the Saddlers.
He added: “A lot of it is down to attitude and, if they are mentally prepared, then I’m sure they’ll be fine.”
