Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Iwelumo out for several weeks
Thursday 5th November 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
Wolves have been dealt a blow ahead of Saturday’s clash with Arsenal after Chris Iwelumo was ruled out for several weeks.
The Scotland international damaged the same foot sustained a broken bone on in July in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke and could be out until December.
Manager Mick McCarthy said: “Chris won’t be fit – he’s damaged the fracture site of the foot he broke before.
“It’s not the same injury as before – just the same place. It happened when Thomas Sorensen and Christophe Berra fell on him, so it was hardly surprising he was in distress.”
Iwelumo was injured again in his first start in nearly seven months at bthe Britannia Stadium, coming after he broke a bone in his foot making his comeback from medial knee ligament damage in the first pre-season friendly in July against Perth Glory.
McCarthy sympathised with the luckless striker, adding: “To have him back and playing in the Premier League was a real bonus – he played well last week and I was delighted with him.
“He did particularly well and headed away a lot of their free kicks, corners and throw-ins.”

Captain Karl Henry believes Chris Iwelumo can be Wolves’ version of Villa’s John Carew.
Does Carew spend all his time injured?
Think Henry must of been thinking of the original ”sick note” himself, Tony Daley.

Hahaha @ 4. english exile. I fully agree, how did Karl Henry did not predict this injury would happen!!?!?!?!…. Get him transfer listed NOW!

Actually John Carew HAS had his injury problems, players of his (and “Lumes”) type, big, combatent centre forwards do. In what way is Chris Iwelumo like Tony Daley? You Muppet.
UP THE WOLVES!!

Dont know what match MM saw because from where i was sitting Chris was useless against Stoke.
He headed some balls – so he should – but not at their goal. Did he score? Did he create any chances? Did the Stoke goalie have to make any saves from him? Did he hold the ball up for others to get into play? Did he make any crucial tackles? Not from where I was sitting.
He’s a good Championship player at best but doesnt have what it takes in the PL.
How is he going to score against bigger, faster and more skillful defenders than those he faced in the Championship? His power isnt going to be the deciding factor. He cant barge his way to goal. Strikers get few chances in a game in the PL and they have to be sharp to take them. They also have to make their own chances.
Unfortunately, finishing finesse is not what Chris is noted for neither is his ability outside of the box.
Player like to praise their colleagues so I wouldnt put much into what Henry said. He isnt going to say bad things about him is he?
He will do a good job for Gordon Strachan in the Championship. Pls let him go

I would say thats about it Chris, I can hear the ‘fat lady’ singing already, I don’t see another comeback for you now, and also I think that Sylvan is on the ‘skids’ as well, as he is not fully fit, can’t handle the speed of Doyle, and only really played well when he and you were together.
Thanks big man, you were great, and every best wish for the future.
Message to Mick……Hear Sam Volkes is playing very well at the moment, pity we can’t call on him.

awolfatthedoor (Muppet).
Another supporter with a short memory.
Tony Daley spent most of his Wolves career in the treatment room………aka Lumes………. Muppet

No.9 What a moron you are, there is no comparison between the two. Did you read, see or hear anything of last season and the performaces of Chris or the team? Just a pity that you aren’t truly in exile, maybe somewhere in Outer Mongolia!

Unfortunate for the big man….i was at the training ground yesterday and saw him go into the gym looking a tad peeved and this is why!!!
we need all our players to be fit and ready and chris has his part to play for sure.
Get fit soon big man.

Tamworth Wolf – there’s no room for sentiment. He did a great job last season but that was the Championship. I’m sure if he’s fit he’ll do another good job – but in the Championship – not in the PL. Just hope its not with us next season

John Bull. I agree no room for sentiment, but the point I make is around the comparison with Tony Daley. However and personally, I do think that Big Chris has a part to play subject to his fitness

Who is this Sam Volkes ?

As predicted Mick’s spiritual guide has intervened to “strike Down” the striker!
So now rise up the HOFF and materialise on the stroke of 70mins to nod 2 home and cause an injury time, Gooner, Heartbreaker!!!

its like the out patients at new cross down the golden palace!!
but seriously is he to old to recover and play at this standard also matt if he has the slightest knock will he be finished . its scary when players get injured do they get enough time to recover.

just our luck ………we could have done with that 10 million that Strachan was willing to shell out for him
