Milijas feels ready for the Premier

Wolves playmaker Nenad Milijas insists he is ready again for the Premier League – and reckons his team can take the prize scalp of Arsenal.
The Serbian international, who set up Stefan Maierhofer for the first goal in last night’s 2-1 friendly win against Wexford Youths, underlined his class with two superb set-pieces for Jody Craddock’s brace in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke.
Milijas missed four Premier League games before coming off the bench to tee up Michael Kightly to win the penalty in last week’s 1-1 draw with Villa.
The former Red Star Belgrade star believes he has adjusted to the demands of the English top flight after being taken out of the firing line by boss Mick McCarthy.
He said: “I always felt I was ready, but the gaffer decides who plays. I understand that and realise I’m not going to play every game. The Premier League was very hard maybe for me at the beginning.
“I played the first few games and felt I did well, but after that, my performances dipped a bit and the gaffer took me out of the team.
“But I’m here for the team and I want to do all I can to help Wolves stay in the Premier League.”
Milijas joked he isn’t quite up to the dead ball class as England superstar David Beckham, but wants to carve his own reputation.
He said: “I have to work too hard to get like Beckham, but I want to be Nenad Milijas and do my best for the team.”
The Serb believes Wolves can overcome the might of Arsenal on Saturday tea-time, despite the Gunners being on an 11-match unbeaten run.
He said: “I think we can win, we need to win and just because it’s Arsenal next, it’s still one we want to win. They’re a big team, but they’re coming to our house and we don’t want to give our house up for anyone.”
Team-mates Jody Craddock and Karl Henry insist Milijas is ready for the Premier League again.
Craddock said: “He came out of the team but he’s proved he can cut it in the Premier League because on Saturday, his quality was fantastic.”
Henry added: “He’s done himself no harm at all in terms of giving the manager a welcome headache in his team selection.”
