Willenhall were comprehensively beaten as higher league opponents showed their class in this FA Trophy tie in front of Noose Lane’s biggest gate of the season.

The first chance came on eight minutes when Adam Walker headed wide from a cross, while two minutes later a good challenge from Chris Porter cleared the danger after some sloppy passing from the home side.

Nuneaton came even closer to breaking the deadlock on 13 minutes as a Gareth Dean header hit the post following a corner from the right.

Chances for Willenhall were few and far between as their five-man defence did well to withstand a lot of flowing passing from the Southern Premier League side.

A quick break on 20 minutes saw a Jamall Pinnock shot take a deflection before going out for a corner.

The influential Walker came close again on 24 minutes when his inswinging corner deceived everyone, but came back off the crossbar.

Five minutes later, Walker finally ended Willenhall’s plucky resistance when he headed in at the back post after a good cross from Eddie Nisevic.

After James Armson fired into the side netting for Nuneaton, Willenhall had their best chance of the game.

Sean Pugh did well to perfectly control a high ball into the box before turning and shooting at goal. Only a good acrobatic save from Darren Acton kept Nuneaton ahead. The goalkeeper did well again on 41 minutes, as his sliding challenge dispossessed Pinnock after the striker had picked up a poor back pass from Stuart Pierpoint.

On 53 minutes, Pinnock could not get an effort on target following a good cross from the left, but from here on in Willenhall’s defence was really tested.

On the hour mark a neat through ball to Lee Moore saw his shot saved by Amritjoyt Kler. But seconds later Nuneaton went 2-0 up as Nisevic evaded several Willenhall challenges, before breaking into the area and calmly slotting past Kler.

The final 15 minutes saw a barrage of efforts on the Willenhall goal. A volley from Pierpoint crashed off the bar before Nuneaton added a third.

A square ball across the box was turned in by Paul Spacey with his first touch of the game. It was 4-0 on 82 minutes as substitute Rob Foster curled an effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Two goals right at the end of the game completed the rout. A ball played low into the six-yard box picked out Chris Dillon who had enough space to turn the ball into the net, meaning all three Nuneaton substitutes had scored.

There was enough time for Foster to add his second as he powerfully ran past a tiring defence and hit a low shot into the net.
