Cannabis plants worth £20,000 has been seized from a house in West Bromwich.

Police raided the house in Wattle Road, Greets Green, yesterday after people living nearby reported suspicious behaviour.

The plants, which had been growing under an intricate heating system, will now be destroyed. No-one was found at the scene, and no arrests have been made.

The raid follows a number of similar operations in West Bromwich.

Greets Green police sergeant Kate Adams said: “We take all reports of drug crime extremely seriously as this form of crime is harmful to our communities.

“If we can disrupt this activity and arrest those responsible, we are helping to take illegal drugs off the streets and provide reassurance to local residents.

“TheÊcannabis plants that have been seized today were found thanks to an anonymous tip-off from a member of the community.

“If you have any concerns about a property being used for drugs in your neighbourhood, please do contact us.”

On Wednesday, police discovered another cannabis factory containing plants worth up to £20,000 in a South Staffordshire village.

Officers searched the unit in Heath Mill Enterprise Park, near where the village’s new Sainsbury’s is being built, and found 100 plants said to be worth be-tween £15,000 and £20,000.
