Excitement reigns for Rangers boss

Friday 30th October 2009, 8:30AM GMT.

Stafford FC Brindley JAHStafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley has vowed to keep playing football the right way when Northwich are the visitors.

It has been raining goals whenever the Marston Road men are in action of late, with 27 goals on the board already in the Blue Square North alone going into the 16th game of the season tomorrow (3pm).

Unfortunately for them, goals have also been shipped at an alarming rate – they have let in just one less they have scored in the league.

But, for those who like a bit of excitement, it has been compelling stuff – Tuesday’s 3-2 first win in six at Ilkeston wasn’t just three points, it was the fourth five-goal thriller of that period.

Life is certainly never dull as a Rangers fan at the moment, and the manager has told his side to continue giving it their all whatever happens tomorrow.

He said: “We will just go and give it our best shot, that is all I ask. We have scored plenty of goals and maybe we are a little too open sometimes, but we try to play football the right way. We got the result we deserved on Tuesday night, but it’s still only one game.

“We play some nice football at a good speed, keep it tight at the back and that is how we move forward. All we can do is perform to our ability.”

Rangers take on a side who have had their troubles, relegated from the Blue Square Premier last season and hit with a 10-point deduction for this campaign after going into administration.

But the Vics have been buoyed by an upcoming FA Cup first round trip to Charlton after drubbing FC United of Manchester 3-0 in their last game.

Brindley said: “Speaking to most of the people I know who have come across them, Northwich are as good a side as anyone. They have had some good results recently, so it’s going to be a tough game.”
