Walsall may not have the illuminations this year but a host of free spooky events are planned to celebrate Halloween.

The New Art Gallery will be the focus for the ghostly goings-on, as Nicky Butler finds out.

Journey to Old Halloween, a series of events planned by the gallery, will include a spooky lantern parade on Saturday evening and live music when the arts space becomes “haunted”.

A dozen workshops will be held for youngsters including lantern making, fortune telling and freak shows.
