Cannabis factory is found

Tuesday 27th October 2009, 10:36AM GMT.

Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £450,000 have been seized in one of the biggest hauls of the drug to be recorded in the West Midlands.

Two men were appearing before magistrates today after police discovered 1,500 plants in an industrial unit in Bloxwich.

Acting Sgt Teri Timmins, of Bloxwich police, said today 10 skips were used to clear the unit in Croxtalls Avenue, near the Bloxwich level crossing, following a raid on Sunday.

She said: “It was a sophisticated operation with the heat lamps and everything set up.

“We were taking it away up until 10pm on Sunday and were still carting it away yesterday morning for a couple of hours.”

Two men, aged 40 and 51, were appearing at Walsall Magistrates Court today accused of being concerned in producing a Class B drug.
