Henry top drawer for Wolves boss
Monday 26th October 2009, 9:09AM GMT.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy believes captain Karl Henry is a “top drawer” midfielder.
Henry was Man of the Match in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Villa after winning the midfield battleground.
The manager said: “Karl is top drawer. He is really excellent and one of those who is sometimes underestimated and undervalued outside the inner sanctum.
“He does what it says on the tin and there’s nothing wrong with that, he’s great.
“Karl may be an unsung hero outside the place, but certainly not by us and within the dressing room.
“He’s been captaining the team and he’s penned in every week as far as I’m concerned and that’s all he needs to be worried about, not what anyone else thinks.”
Henry himself believes he has the quality to impress in the Premier League.
He said: “I’m pleased with how things have gone so far and have really enjoyed it. It’s a big step-up for a lot of us who haven’t played in this league before.
“But I’ve got confidence in my ability.”

Seriously, how good is Henry right now. He looks a different player. How much did Cattermole cost Sunderland? I think he is still in Karl’s pocket. Local lad too. Excellent.

Best 200k Mick has spent

He’s been the most improved player in the side without a doubt – and had another great game on Sat.
Keep it up Karl !!

Somebody pass the kleenex!! Henry getting this level of recognition is going to replace my QI boxset during my alone time!

Karl Henry was excellent on Saturday. My only concern sometimes is that we pass it around in the midfield and then it ends up back with the goalkeeper. I still maintain that Milijas will have to play in a lot more games, as he is the passer of the team. He is more suited to a 4-5-1 formation!

He’s been a different class all season, since we signed him for that matter.
Always wants the ball never hides.
We will struggle to keep hold of him if we don’t stay up this yr.
And to think he his a scape goat for some of the’fans’ that post on here.

One of the pleasing things this season, has been the applause in the Billy Quite for Karl Henry’s performance, especially his tackling and covering for the defence.I didn’t know whether he could live with the pace of the top players, but he certainly can.

9 Ben – Karl Henry has been the best improved player this season. He breaks up play and can retain the ball. This creates a springboard for the more adventurous and creative players of whom, I would suggest, one is Milijas.
You clearly have no concept of football being a TEAM game, and that players are not all the same. They don’t ALL possess the full set of qualities expected of the WHOLE midfield contingent.

I think he’s crap.

Really pleased to see Karl Henry playing so well at the moment, he was awesome on saturday and has silenced the idiotic doubters who don’t realise the importance of the claude makeleles and the gareth barrys in a team who break down the opposition and play the ‘safer’ passes, freeing up the attack-minded players to concentrate on attack.
No.6 makes an excellent point, even when the team isn’t playing well and the fans are getting frustrated, henry never hides and always makes himself available for the ball, i respect that in a player.
Positive thinking, up the Wolves!

The midfield is the weakest are of our team by a long , long way. Karkl Henry is no where near good enough for this level. Man of the Match ??? watch it again, Castillo was Man of the Match. And Milijas looked superb when he came on. It should be Milijas and Castillo every week in the centre. You can’t play two holding midfielders together and Castillo is different class to Henry.
Henry never ever gets forward, never creates anything from midfield, he’s just a battler with a sideways or backwards pass everytime.
I never rated Henry in the championship, and I certainly don’t rate him now.
Let’s get realstic here, we are hovering just about the relegation zone , and West Ham will soon put a run together, they were much the better team when they played at molineux.

15. Not a clue.
Every good team needs a player in Henry’s role.
Every person who knows anything about football would disagree with you. Stick to watching Hockey mate.

Karl Henry is in excellent form , it seems the Prem league suits his style of play more than the Championship. I have always admired his play and work rate. He does so much work that most people just dont recognise (or did’nt)
