Kidderminster Harriers could face Football League opposition at Northampton in the FA Cup – but they will have to do without captain Chris McPhee in their bid to finish the job at Fleetwood.

The Aggborough men face a replay in the fourth qualifying round tomorrow night after a goalless draw on Saturday minus their influential skipper, who is now banned for three games after a hotly disputed tackle on Jamie McGuire.

McPhee will now miss the replay, Saturday’s trip to Cambridge and either the prospective FA Cup first round tie at the Sixfields Stadium or the home game against Oxford on November 14.

Manager Mark Yates is still fuming that his captain was sent off when a stern talking to seemed the best course of action but, nonetheless, the club will not be appealing.

He said: “It was never a sending off, but we will gain nothing bar losing our money from appealing. It’s just not worth it.

“On the whole, tomorrow’s is another game that we could have done without, but at the end of the day we didn’t do enough to win first time round. Credit to them, they stifled us and probably played a bit better on than us.

“But we are not out of anything and we can still pull this around.”

Yesterday’s cup draw in the first round proper saw Harriers last out of the hat, with a trip to the League Two club in wait provided they can dispose of Blue Square North opposition at the second time of asking.

But Yates has refused to be drawn into that thought until the job is done.

He said: “I am not thinking or talking about the next round at the moment, it’s no concern to me until it’s iron clad that we will be there. We have got a massive game tomorrow night and no one here is getting ahead of themselves.

“But whatever team gets through will have a chance in the next round.”
