Cruel chants just inspire Agbonlahor
Monday 26th October 2009, 11:29AM GMT.
Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has taunted Wolves fans by claiming their cruel chants inspired his goal in the Molineux derby draw.
Just as the England international was at Birmingham last month, the England forward was subjected to vile songs about his mother by the home support.
But again derby-day goal king Agbonlahor had the last laugh with a late strike – only this time it wasn’t enough to secure victory.
Now the Brummie hitman, who made it six goals in his last eight games, has warned rival fans the more they sing the more he’ll score.
He said: “They keep on singing the song. I had to show them what I thought of them when I scored the goal.
“I’m going to have the same celebration for the local fans. It doesn’t really bother me. Every players get stick. It makes no different to any of the players. It is not really a big deal. I had the last laugh.
“The more they keep singing, the more I keep scoring. Let’s wait for the next derby!”
Emile Heskey came off the bench to set up Agbonlahor’s goal and the striker has backed his under-fire team mate to prove his critics wrong.
Agbonlahor added: “I am disappointed he has been getting stick. Last season, I was getting stick but you need to give players a chance.
“He has not played many games here and his England form and that assist show what he is capable of.”

Personally I dont like or sing the chants at the lad BUT I do think it got to him as he reacted several times to the crowd, still wished he was in our side. Great result for us

No Ebanks-Blake had the last laugh Gabby!

Am i missing something here – who had the last laugh, certainly wasn’t agbonawhore and his 2yd tap in!

to be fair, the chants were cruel but we took the celebration on the chin, so fair enough.
compare that with the man city incident with adeybayor, where the fans gave some stick but couldn’t take it back.

it was sung when the villa come to the albion, I am all for abuse and banter but this song goes to far just like the milwall fans on saturday against Leeds or when Glen Roeder returned to west ham and the cancer chants, their is a line and people have to respect it. Still feel the dingles are going down not as easy as it looks.

My god man your a bloke who is on 45000 a yea and you cant take a little verbal jousting . . I would hate to see how you would cope in a proper work place !!.
How did you have the last laugh we still kept singing towards you and i thought it was quite funny how you drifted closer to the half way line when we had our penalty . .
And any villa fan who claims what we were saying were disgraceful should think themselve as hypocrites !!

What chants ???? I didnt hear any and i was in the steve bull near the corner flag where he was celebrating after his goal ??? Must have been concentrating on the game i suppose !!!

If every fan thought the same as “loyal-cannock wolf” what a sorry state we would be in.Take your support to the boing boings or brum it has no place with us.As far as the game, a lot better but,we shoud be getting three points at home.Last weeks point at Eveton was better than this weeks at home in my opinion.Next week at Stoke will be tough but I feel that with full committment and concentration we can come away with the points.Come on you Wolves.

so jack you sing those kind of songs to your colleagues do you?
The fans were disgusting and out of order, no way was that banter. I think Jack if someone sang this to you im sure you would be doing more than putting your finger over your mouth. Fair play to agbonlahor, didnt over do it and he deserves respect for that.

Inspired? If that on saturday was agbonlahor inspired then i don’t think much of his england chances. credit wolves for stopping them playing but i thought that the likes of young, carew and agbonlahor were awful!

Young, Carew and Agnolahor were made to look distinctly average by our solid back line. What was this song? I’m all for banter but nothing personal about his family. Cant believe the ref again twice Doyle got fouled in the box by Dunne in the same incident. We have played against 12 men v Sunderland, Pompey, Everton and Villa and on the bounce.
5. My tesco friend I’d worry more about losing to Palace, Barnsley and Swansea aswell as lucky draws at Preston and Cov, you are where you belong my friend, in the championship with no sponsor.

no.19 or laughingdingle you seem to forget what teams you lost in the championship and how many promotions you have against ours (including the 10 point catch) Oh now I come to mention it how victories recorded and goals scored against in in the last 10 years, compared with us??? enough said, enjoy because it will be a while before you come back after relegation.
As for tesco I hope it finally come the south bank and the structure has been checked as we boing boinged all over it. We dont need shirt sponsors we generate more money with out check the records thats a fact were just like Barcelona and it looks better than the crap you’ve got.
