Obama date for Connie
Saturday 24th October 2009, 10:42AM BST.
She has clocked up millions in global record sales, claimed a Christmas number one in the States and mixed with a series of superstars.
But West Midland singing sensation Connie Talbot could now get to perform in front of one of the most famous men on the planet at an event due to feature Barack Obama.
Although his hectic schedule means the Whitehouse cannot guarantee his appearance until a few days in advance, it is hoped the US president and his family will join Connie as guests at the charity luncheon.
And the Toys for Tots National Campaign launch event, in Alexandria, Virginia, on November 20, will fall on her ninth birthday.
Her mother Sharon said she expected Connie to take her forthcoming brushes with stardom in her stride.
It comes as the Streetly songbird, who rose to fame when she appeared on ITV show Britain’s Got Talent two years ago, promotes her new album, Connie Talbot’s Holiday Magic.
And the Blackwood Primary pupil is set to become even more popular across the pond, when she hosts her own US Public Broadcasting Service one-hour special TV show – expected to be seen by more than 100 million people.

I’ve probably got more respect for Connie Talbot than I have Obama. But good for her, it’s nice her efforts have been recognised.

1. I’m in agreement with you. I hope that Connie gets back home safe and they do not give her the Swine Flu jab when she is there.
