Teacher’s cruelty case is thrown out
Friday 23rd October 2009, 11:30AM BST.
A teacher prosecuted after she was accused of banging a six-year-old pupil’s hand on a desk has had her case thrown out by magistrates.
Halina Glebocki today told the Express & Star of the “horrible” ordeal she has been forced to endure after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided to haul her before the courts.
Walsall Magistrates yesterday discharged the case, refusing a plea from CPS for more time to collect evidence. She had been charged with doing an act of cruelty to a child. Miss Glebocki, aged 26, of Littleworth Road, Hednesford, who has since left her post at St Thomas of Canterbury RC Primary School, said she been through a traumatic four months. “It’s been the worst experience of my life,” she said.
“I’ve barely slept since it all started. When I found out I was being prosecuted, I was just in a total state of shock and disbelief.
“When everyone around you knows your character and your level of professionalism, for it to have been taken so far is beyond comprehension.”
A teacher for three years, she said she had an unblemished record.
