Lights switch-on to be given the X Factor
Friday 23rd October 2009, 11:30AM BST.
Television talent show stars will be lighting up Walsall this Christmas – including X Factor finalist Eoghan Quigg and Britain’s Got Talent dancing sensation Aidan Davis.
Hundreds are expected to attend the grand festive lights switch-on which will take place on November 26 at The Bridge in the town centre. Irish teenager Eoghan Quigg, who was last year’s third placed X Factor contestant, will be performing a set of his songs live on a stage.
The youngster has released an album and has had invitations to sing alongside Anastacia, Enrique Inglesias and Boyzone amongst others.
Aidan, Birmingham’s young dancing sensation from the finals of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, will be in town to showcase his unique style of dance.
Others to appear for the event include Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.
Ten-year-old MJ Mytton Sanneh from Wolverhampton will be joining the line-up, fresh from appearing in the hugely successful European tour of the acclaimed West End concert spectacular about Michael Jackson, Thriller Live.
And fresh from this year’s X Factor auditions, Walsall’s very own Demi Cullum will be coming along to perform and help get the town in festive mood. The bubbly teenager from Alumwell won the hearts of the audience and the judges, with Cheryl Cole even joining her on stage when she got upset.
Those turning out for the occasion will also get a chance to gain a piece of Walsall history and support Walsall Hospice in the process by buying a specially commissioned Walsall 2009 Christmas decoration.
A Christmas market will be in the centre of town all day and there will be a firework finale to finish things off.
